Well, we've decided on a Boxer for our new addition. Only problem is I don't know of a good place to get one! The only thing I do know is to avoid the pet stores!
I know they can be expensive, buI'm hoping to find a reasonably priced one. Afterall, we want a pet, not a show dog.
Anybody out there know anyone in Florida?

Sorry, I don't know of any. But I have a boxer and she is a great a dog!! Spoiled rotten!! She's very protective of my son. I also like that she's kinda scary looking to people that don't know how sweet she is. Good luck!!

I don't know of any breeders in FL, but we have a boxer, and she is the best pet we've ever had! I can't believe how smart she is. She was house broken at 10 weeks!
She is very close to the entire family, but she and my 8yo son are the very best of friends.............She's now 14mos old, and still a little hyper, but in general, a great breed. Good luck finding your boxer!

If you lived up in the Northeast I could show you a litter of pups!!!
The best thing to do is get yourself to a dog show where you can talk to breeders about any litters on the ground. Where in Florida do you live? PM me. I'll find a show for you.

Is that what happens to old, brain dead boxers? They go to the breeder in Florida to live their last few days?

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;)

Ok I have a few questions for you Boxer lovers. I know a lot (I think) about Boxers. My husband had one before he had me! Two things I can't get a straight answer out of him on.....how are they with shedding and running away?

We have a boxer that is just over a year old. He is such a sweetheart and as others have said he is so smart. He was so easy to house train. Saying that, I do have to say he does shed. I am such I dog person it really doesn't bother me. As to your other question, our backyard is fenced so Caesar doesn't have the chance to get away. I have had dogs all my life and I must say that Caesar is the sweetest and smartest dog I have ever had.

I have a fenced in backyard also. I had a Siberian Husky growing up and if she got loose it was all over, she would run forever! I also had a little Corgi that went to live on a ranch with a friend partly because he was just impossible to keep in. He was a little escape artist! If anyone was anywhere near one of the front doors he pushed his way out. I've always envied neighbors and friends who just walk around with their dog be their side w/no leash. Guess we'll probably need a little training!
Is the shedding year-round?
