We are planning our first family trip to Disney World in Nov 2007. My daughter's will be 5 & 4. I am looking for a book, kind of a cross between a souvenir and a tour guide. I want to get the kids excited, so I am looking for something that has a lot of pictures of the Magic Kingdom. I have been all over Amazon, checked the library and found nothing. I have friends going to Disney and I was hoping they could find something for me there. Any suggestions?

Try Birnbaum's it can be found at Borders. They have a version that is just for kids.

We like the "By Kids, For Kids" WDW books. Lots of pictures and the text is written for kids. Although it is really for kids a little older than yours are, I think they would still like it. We have several years' versions of it.

World of Disney does sell a souvenir photo book, and also big sets of picture postcards. I've also seen them in MouseGears at Epcot. I'm sorry that I can't tell you the exact title. We did buy one for DL/DCA, since we don't visit California as a routine thing, but we haven't purchased one for WDW. They definitely do exist, but AFAIK, they are only sold in the bigger stores on-property.

The Birnbaum by kids for kids is good for the pictures but if you want WDW info, I would also get either the Unofficial Guide or the Passporter or both. The passporter deluxe is cool b/c it's a liitle binder and you can put your stubs, etc in to save them.

Have fun! :)

Birnbaum for Kids is nice, because there are pages in it they can fill in there favorite rides, food, memories, etc.
If you need a good guide book for taking kids to Disney get, Walt Disney World With Kids by Kim Wright Riley. It a great guide book. Also the Passporter is good, but much more kid relevent things in the other.

For the grownups Passporter HANDS DOWN! It had great restaurant reviews, ride reviews and all the particulars on the resorts. My DS 7 and I have been reading them together since he was 3 and he loves the kids tips from Allie. But I know what you mean about pictures...so we used to buy him the Birnbaums for Kids. Now, my DS is an official book critic and says that nothing else is as good as the passporter and he can look on line when he wants to see pictures! Afterall, he's now the google expert and has the disney page as his home page!

This isnt a book, but I would recommend the Sing a long Songs video, Disneyland Fun. It is at disneyland, so your girls may notice some slight differences once they get to the parks, but it does a great job of showing some songs and characters, and getting the kids excited. DS still loves to watch it 6 months after our trip.

This is an older video, we got ours at a consignment shop for about a $1, but I know they have released them recently on DVD.

Music is a great way to get them excited too, ds has some tapes of disney music that we listen to in the car and in his room while we play. One of the tapes is an older one of music from the park, which was nice when we were there he could recognize some of the songs.

I agree with the Disneyland Fun video, my kids love that one.

My dd had a Mary Kate and Ashley book that showed them at the Magic Kingdom. I just went onto amazon.com and found it, it's called "Mary-Kate & Ashley's Walt Disney World Adventure".

It has alot of great pictures and you can all get excited reading it together!

Have a great trip!
