Any suggestions. Have always stayed on-site in past but it's just too expensive now!
I don't know how "budget conscious" you need to be, but have you looked at Orlando Courtyard Suites?
We just got back from there on Saturday.
This is not a resort, just a really nicely appointed suite hotel close to WDW.
You have to pass a boarded up hotel down the street to get there
but we never felt unsafe, could watch the fireworks at MK from the well lit parking lot, and found our suite to be very quiet with no road noise or noise from other guests.
For a one king bedroom suite with a full kitchen including dish washer,
stove, micro, fridge, washer and dryer, and whirlpool tub, granite counter tops
and more we only paid $69 a night- it was $59 a night before taxes.
We spent out days at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach (annual water park passes are a great deal!) so we enjoyed resort style pool experiences at the parks and not our hotel.
A two bedroom suite is only $109 a night- both bedrooms have their own bathroom.
We'll be bringing college age son next time so we'll probably do a 2 bed suite then.

I could not believe it only took 5 minutes to get to Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom, and route 192 has tons of great restaurants right at your doorstep.
We are already planning our next stay at OCS
