Looking for 1 BR rental NYC this summer...

almost a month and checking airbnb, home away vrbo ...

Has anyone done this? Airbnb looks GOOD and there are several nice looking furnished rentals, but I have this fear the HOST could or would back out last minute.

It's actually illegal to rent an apartment for less than 30 days in NYC.

I found the NYC forums to be wonderful for planning our trip. Maybe ask questions there rather than on a Disney planning board.
