Looking at flight to Vancouver with a layover in Toronto

Just fly Alaska Airlines or American non stop to Seattle. No reason to buy a flight where you have to connect.

Did that in 2015 before the Hawaii cruise. Philly to Toronto to Vancouver. Wasn't any problem but as you know you do have to collect all your luggage in toronto. Than go through Canada customs whatever it's called than reload you bags on a belt than go through security again.

We live east of Philly, and don't really like driving north to fly out of Newark. We're actually thinking of flying into Seattle on Southwest, taking a day to tour Seattle, then take the Amtrak up to Vancouver and have a day to look around before starting our cruise. The scenery along the Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver looks beautiful!

for our alaskan cruise, we flew into seattle and then flew on to anchorage (obviously, we were on a southbound from seward to vancouver).
after the cruise - which ended in vancouver - we rented a car in vancouver and drove down to seattle, where we dropped the car off at Seatac airport and flew out of seattle.

our cruise ended on a friday morning, we rented the car right in the cruise terminal (from alamo), drove down to everett (just north of seattle) so that we could tour the boeing factory (totally awesome), then on saturday, we drove to seatac airport and flew home...

and the minivan we rented from alamo wasn't even that expensive!! and since there were 4 of us, it was cheaper than taking the train...
but that's not why we did it - i really really really really wanted to see the boeing factory (totally awesome!! :) ) so the best way to do that was renting a car...

I agree Sloane, if you can get to Seattle its better and saves you time too i would think. Toronto airport isn't my favorite either

Just did this and if you can avoid the Toronto airport exchange please do!
You have to go from one terminal to another. Its a long walk, lots of line ups as you go through customs, then through security again, and then if you checked luggage you have to go to another check in to say you had luggage and identify it on a computer screen. The whole process took us 90 minutes with nexus! It was the biggest pain ever! Never again will I connect through Toronto like this! We were so tired. Our flight left here in Vancouver at 10pm (we live in Van), and landed around 5am Toronto time, then our flight to Orlando left at 7:30am toronto time. We arrived at the gate at 6:40am. Its a LOT of walking. I felt like I was already in the theme parks -a nd in the middle of the night for us - NOT fun at all

Any opinions on Montreal? Better option than Toronto or the same?

Have you looked at Westjet? They offer some good deals and often offer nonstops. Check them out. We like them. They were the only ones who offered a nonstop when we flew JFK to Calgary. I fly out of Philly to Vancouver and offer lots of flights between cities in the US and Canada.
