Look Southwest has lowered their $ today.

Finally!! Flights out of Islip have dropped for Sept and Oct...$89 and $99 for mid-week travel. That's more like it! :woohoo:

Flying SWA from BWI to MCO. Checked flights before leaving work no change from last week. Checked when I got home and fares had dropped $61 each way. I was pleasantly surprised! Now have flights for October trip booked.

You guys probably know this, but I will throw it out there anyways. Airline tickets usually drop on tuesdays (mostly after 2 or 3 pm) and go back up on thursday or friday. They will stay stay up through the weekend and the cycle replays. The day you fly also makes a lot of difference.

Got our tickets from Chicago to MCO at $89 each way. We contemplated renting a minivan and driving but flying was way cheaper (I really pushed flying '*** I can not stand driving long distance) :)

My sentiments, exactly. LGA is a nightmare to get to, and get around. JFK is not so bad, but I'm not crazy about long-term parking there. The cost of round trip car service (plus tip) is approximately $180, which would eat up the money saved by flying Jet Blue vs. Southwest.

So - all things considered - the convenience and lack of stress is why I'd much rather pay a higher price for a SW flight out of Islip. Twenty minutes, door-to-door, and a practically non-existent security line...what's not to like?!

My game plan is to purchase tickets this week for the flight down, at (hopefully) $144 per person. I'm going to hold off on purchasing the return tickets for a month or two, in the hopes that prices drop and I can apply the credit received for the price differential in the outbound tickets toward the purchase price of the return flights. We have some flexibility on the date of our return, so I'm not really worried about not getting on a flight.

And if the prices go up, instead of drop...well, then I have no one to blame but myself!
Yay for game plans...my flights dropped to $80 each way today! :woohoo:

Rebooked the outbound, had $88 in travel funds to apply to the return trip, and the $181.40 R/T cost per person is only $2 more than what I paid two years ago. Yep, I'm a happy camper!

Now, if only the hotel rates would drop...

AWESOME!! Glad it worked out

My flight down just got lower again. I went to change it and it says that

Your reservation contains modifications that prevent you from changing it online. Please contact a Southwest Airlines Customer Representative for assistance at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792).

Any ideas? Anyone had this happen?

That's weird. Have you made changes to this trip before now? Maybe there's a limit on how many changes you can make...

I think I changed the flight down twice, the flight home once
I looked around online and couldn't find anything about limiting the number of times you can re-book a flight. Guess you'll have to call to get to the bottom of it.

Good luck!

I called and was told the hold time is 18-28 minutes but since I'm a Rapid Rewards customer they'll call me when it's my turn. Sweet! They should be calling in about 10 minutes or so hopefully. I'll let you know what happens

I pressed for that option but I didn't get the option for a callback!!! I'm hoping that my cordless phone battery is going to hold out. I've always had no issues adjusting flights and getting the credits, but this set of flights is not working out that way. Oh, well...if I can get an agent to help me book for $80 flights for both ways and change one to nonstop I will have no real complaint!! Oh, I'm up!!! Let you know how it worked out. :3dglasses

Almost done after 57+ minutes on the phone...such nice staff, though and they are struggling with their computers...really busy for them tonight with this sale and people like myself who would normally change flights online. Glad to say we have some credits and already a suggestion from DH for a spring trip to Boston to use them up.

One booking was unable to be adjusted so the solution was to credit me the entire amount on my credit card and then charge the new and lower amount to the same card. That is some great customer service they have going there. The two women I spoke to were extremely pleasant. Just another reason why I continue to fly Southwest. :)

I got my call back in about 30 minutes.

They said the reason I couldn't change it online was because the reservation had been "touched" by a reservation agent. Once an agent "touches" the reservation it can no longer be changed online, it must be done by an agent from now on. I explained that I've always done it online and never spoke to an agent. It showed up that SW went in and made an adjustment to the schedule and therefore that whole flight was considered "touched."

She was able to make the change for me. So I got my third price adjustment on the flight to Orlando. Originally booked it for $139, now I'm paying $80. Our flight home was originally booked for $180 and we adjusted it to $139 a while back. We now have $300 in credit with SW. The flight home is done sadly, the cheapest seats have said Sold Out for a while now so that won't be going any lower :(

Thanks everyone for all the info! I checked earlier when I first got the special email and flights were still $162 each way. I just checked about 5 minutes ago and they went down to $80 each way! Yeah! And with companion pass for DH I'm able to get round trip for both of us for less then what one ticket would have cost.

Our fare just dropped $80 from Orlando to Philly

woohooo yes I got the same situation... orginally paying $166 down and $188 back... now my total was $181 plus a $20 refund from previous flight that I didnt even know was there got me down to $161 r/t !!!!! The sale does not work on Friday and Sunday flights thats what SWA rep on the phone said!

after watching for a while, my flights went down and we had about 500 RT for the two of us, Chicago to MCO in mid Dec. Not bad, a little less than past Jan with bag fees and all. But, if it's possilbe to go down much lower, i'll really have to watch! After I booked ours about 10 days ago, they went up to about 874 RT, today they were at about 670 RT. Surprised that it's possible they may go down that much still. So, if they do and I get credits, I know I have to use by one year from purchase, right? And, all our tickets, 2 down and back, are on one account. So how do they work that credit? If one of us is going to fly in that time, can my daughter use all the money credited? Likely, she'd be the only one possibly flying in that time, Idk.
