6 day out forecasts are stating a Cat 3 or 4 Hurricane Florence is due into Charleston next Thursday or Friday.
Things will change and adjust before finalizing over the weekend. Just an early warning and preparations should be started this weekend.

Be aware of the Hurricane policy DVC has so you don't forfit your points.

Annually, from June 1 to November 30, in the event a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center of the Orlando area, Vero Beach area, Hilton Head Island, O'ahu or for the Member’s place of residence within 7 days before the scheduled arrival date, the Member may call Member Services at (800) 800-9800† or (407) 566-3800† prior to Check-in to cancel or reschedule, based upon availability, their Disney Vacation Club Resort reservation without any cancellation or modification penalty.

This morning on the Disney HHI Resort Facebook page, there was a post suggesting the resort is in the path and a mandatory evacuation is being ordered. Wasn't Hurricane Matthew enough for them to deal with?

I am leaving for HH on Tuesday so I have been watching the situation closely. The current forecast is for the hurricane to hit in North Carolina. I don’t know why they would evacuate HH given that it is almost on the Georgia border. I’m expecting lots of wave action and probably rip tides, but I don’t think we will get the bad wind and rain from the hurricane.

We leave for Disney on Tuesday. No worries there but worried for where we live. I can't leave home knowing there is a storm threat. Live very close to the water and responsible for 89 year old Mom. She lives right on the water. Stinks to be a grownup at times! We are currently in the cone.

sending pixie dust pixiedust: and best wishes to all in the path of this storm.

Well, the governor just ordered a statewide evacuation of the coast so no HHI for me. I had used a bunch of banked points for this vacation and won’t be able to reschedule before he end of my use year (3/31) so I guess I’m screwed. Having said all of that, prayers to everyone in the path of this storm. Sounds like it’s going to be a bad one.

Ok, so how many times has HH had their dues rise as a result of hurricane damage? (within the past 4-5 years)

Call DVC MS and "see" what they can do for you. Once in a lifetime changes to standard policies are possible for especially hard exceptions.
DW and I have gotten 2 of these exceptions:
I got one for DD for a cruise booked on points, when her BiL was KIA in Iraq during the first week of the war. We were booked on a DCL, the funeral was schedule during the cruise, so I called MS, and they refunded her points after I provided proof.

Back in '04 we had a DVC scheduled to start the day "Francis" was forecasted to arrive in Fla. DW had checked-in, gotten the room key, started to unpack, I was at work, and once she found out that "she" was actual coming through the WDW area DW decided she wanted to go home. Went back to the front desk, cancelled the stay, and DVC returned all the points - no questions asked.
Turns out I had to work 40 hours straight that work day, so a good thing everything got cancelled.
