Hi - I finally finished reading through the Poly resort thread (great info) and didn't find the following info specifically. We just booked a garden view room at Poly and I want to request particular longhouses. Can anyone help?

1. Are all the rooms refurbished (the garden view rooms) the same between the longhouses?
2. Some folks mentioned single sinks v. double sinks. Do you know which ones have the double sinks and does this mean your bathroom space is bigger?
3. Do you know which longhouses have the bigger garden view rooms?
4. I guess the different types of room are either patio, balcony or neither (just windows)?

1. All the rooms in each Longhouse have been refurbished.

2. The only Longhouse we stayed in was Hawaii and I believe they had double sinks, so I can't speak for the other ones.

3. That one I can't answer.

4. 1st floor rooms are patios, 2nd floor rooms have a smaller balcony and 3rd floor rooms have a full balcony.

Thanks.
If the 2nd floors don't have balconies or patios, I wonder if they're bigger then?

I know for sure that the rooms in Tahiti (and two other longhouses) are a few square feet larger than some of the other rooms. Tahiti also has bathrooms with two sinks. The rooms are large in general-lots of space for luggage and to sprawl out and relax. The bathrooms in the Tahiti are very generous and there is storage space for bathroom bags, etc.

The patios are cement pads off the room with two chairs and a table. We usually stay on the first floor, so I am not an expert on the balconies or sliding doors. I do know that many of the longhouses have just sliding doors and a railing on the second floor.

I highly recommend requesting a ground floor or balcony room because sitting outside is really enjoyable here.

No, those rooms are not any larger than the other rooms in the same longhouse. They simply do not have the addition of balconies extending out beyond the sliding glass doors. The original longhouses were built in this style (balconies on third floor only) to reflect an architectural style popular in the Polynesian Islands.

Tahiti has double sinks in the bathrooms, and I believe Rapa Nui does also. I can't remember if Tokelau does too, but think they might (we've only stayed in Tahiti). From the photos that I've seen, the bathrooms in the newer longhouses do appear to be somewhat larger.

Just to be clear, the room categories that you can actually reserve (and pay for) are Garden View, Lagoon View, MK View, and GV or LV Club Level. Differences such as 1st floor/patio rooms, and rooms with a balcony, are simply 'requests' that can be noted on your reservation (but are not guaranteed to be met).

I realize that the OP has already booked a GV room, and is now thinking about what request(s) they may want to add to that ressie. My advice would be to decide on your priorities, and then keep it simple and list only the one or two requests that are most important to you--such as "balcony room, Tahiti longhouse". The simpler the requests, the more likely that they will be able to accommodate them. :thumbsup2

Tahiti and Rapa Nui have slightly larger rooms (around 60 sq. ft. more) than other longhouses, since they were built a bit later. Do keep in mind that these buildings are closer to the TTC than the Great Ceremonial House (though by no means far), so that may be a factor for anyone planning room requests. These buildings (as far as I can remember) do have dual sinks.

On these two buildings, plus Tokelau and Samoa have second floor lanais/balconies. All other buildings have a railing against the lanai doors on the second floor, and are not larger in overall room size (the lanais are external of the interior structure).

Personally, I would recommend requesting a room in either Fiji or Aotearora- there are some very good garden view rooms in these locations, and are very close to the Great Ceremonial House.

We stayed at Tokelau- 3rd floor balcony, it is a newer building and the rooms are bigger in the newer buildings. It had 2 sinks.

Garden view- looked out on quiet pool/gardens with a side view of MK

Hi, can anyone who stayed in the hawaii consierge bldg tell me if the music from the nightly fireworks is piped into the lounge? thank you

thanks crresortfan, i also posted the question on the poly info thread, so just ignore it if you run across it. it's nice to have someone on the boards like you who always responds in a timely manner. (even though you probably have answered that question many times!) appreciate it.

All the rooms are very large. We are a group of 5 ...including older teens and were very comfortable. :)

You're welcome and I don't mind answering any types of questions, if I know what the answer is.

1. All rooms are refurbished.

2. Single sinks in the original longhouse, double in most of the newer longhouse rooms. The accessible rooms have only one sink.

3. Tahiti, Rapa Nui and Tokelau have larger rooms. Gardenview doesn't enter into the equation.

4. The original longhouses have balconies on the third floor (Niue doesn't have a third floor), sliding glass doors on the second and patios on the first.

The newer longhouses have full size balconies on 2nd and 3rd floor rooms....no difference between floors. Patios on the first.

I've been in both sized rooms, you DO NOT notice the difference. Both are large.

I agree that all rooms are large. But we notice the difference. The extra 61 sq feet is mostly floor space since the furniture takes up the same room in all rooms.

Thanks everyone! Very helpful! Can't wait to get some Tonga Toast!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wanted to note that the newer longhouses Tokelau, Rapa Nuie, and Tahiti bigger rooms include an extra cushioned arm chair too. My DH and I loved that because we each had one to park our ***s in after a long day in the parks without having to mess up the bed. That extra floor space is great too for the kids to spread out and play:cool1:

We are just back today from our first stay in Tokelau. I have to say, although both were refurbished, that this room was in much better shape than the room we had in Hawaii bldg last October. The Tokelau room was larger and as the post above mentioned, had two chairs, one with a footstool and a small table between them. This was in addition to the usual two double beds and daybed. The bathroom was a single sink (but so was the one in Hawaii). This building seemed much quieter. We never heard any neighbors and the place was absolutely packed! We had a first floor room very close to the beach. It was perfect but I did miss all the wonderful goodies in the concierge lounge of Hawaii!:) The only negative was the 3AM scheduled power outage to test the resorts emergency lighting! When the power came back on after about 5 minutes, the fire alarms shrieked several times!!:scared1:
