Long wait at ohana's

Feel bad for my sil and her family. They had a ADR for 6:50. The resort monorail wasn't running so they had to wait for a ferry. Ended up making it about 30 minutes late for their reservation. They still haven't been seated and it 9pm. They are waiting trying to entertain a 2 year old and six year old... And will miss the fireworks, and electrical parade. :(

You could probably walk right in to Kona Cafe right across from Ohana.

Yes... But wouldn't they still be charged for ohana's? She had to leave a CC number when she made the reservation.

I think it would be $10 per person cancellation charge. But I could be wrong. I only left my CC info for 2 ADRs and I know it was CRT that charged the full amount but thought O'hana was just a cancellation charge, not the full meal.

That stinks!:crazy2:

I don't believe they should be charged. They can't help the monorail wasn't working and the ferry was backed up.

Maybe, but that could be worked out with Disney afterwards. 2 hours to wait with a reservation is ludicrous, even if the reason they were late was out of their hands. Find a manager who should be able to help them.

I would have asked for a manager an hour ago and either had the fee waived or something. 2 hours is crazy.

It's their first trip and first table service meal.... I think they are kind of lost and not sure what to do. Hoping they are seated by now...

I'm Actually thinking of changing plans for our next trip. We always eat at Ohana but had a long wait last time... I chalked it up to a fluke but now I'm not so sure.

It is overwhelming if it's your first time, but Ohana is usually pretty good about keeping your reservation as long as you are there on time, just like most other TS locations. Being that the reason they were late was clearly not their fault, they should have found someone to help them out a lot sooner. You never know unless you ask, but sometimes it may be difficult to squeeze another party into Ohana, which is very popular.

I was just thinking that. A manager can't come up with more seats if the place is full.

I probably would have asked that the fee be waived and would have eaten elsewhere. It's hard to know what to do when you're new though.

We have always done early adr's at Ohana's, between 5 and 5:30 and have never waited. I also find the food to be fresh and plentiful. I know some like to go late to see the fireworks but an early adr always works great.

We had a transportation snafu that caused us to be late for dinner at cape may. We were told we could walk there from Epcot so went from MK via monorail to find out that no, that's only if we had park hoppers. Which we didn't. We would have had to pay $100+ on our last day to add hoppers or take a bus to DHS then another to beach club. We were able to get the guest services to waive our cancelation fee without any issue.

The point is that the reservation was for 6:50 and they didn't get seated until 9:30. I know the food is fresh and plentiful. That's why I told them they should eat there. Lol. The fireworks are at 10 tonight. They were hoping to eat and get back for the fireworks.

Damn. That's just wrong.

I realize they were late, but shoot. A nearly 3 hour penalty.
I'd have requested a cancellation with no fee, and strolled on over to Kona. Done and done.

First of all I would not want to eat a big Ohana meal at 9pm or later. They should have asked to have the penalty waived and gone elsewhere. That is really not a good experience for you SIL. I had an ADR for Ohana but cancelled it. I'm glad I did -too many hit or misses for this place.

We eat at Ohana on every trip (dh's favourite) and we've never NOT waited. It's a mess up there. Once in, everyone has a good time but how they consistently run an hour or more behind is beyond me. That being said there is no way I would wait more than an hour.. and that's pushing it.
It's really too bad your sister and family had this as their first experience. What a disappointment.:(

It's unfortunate, but who do you propose should have been bumped to accommodate them showing up 30 minutes late? That's almost an entire seating at a lot of restaurants. It's crummy for them and may not be their fault but it's also not the fault of other people who showed up for their 7:30 reservations on time. The restaurant should definitely have told them the wait was going to be really long, though, so they could make other arrangements if they wanted.
