Long time lurker, time to ask a question

Hey there, folks. I've been perusing this message board for about 18 months now and the only post I have here is requesting a DISer green ear design from Rog. which I have been unable to utilize...until now. My wife and I have a Pop Up camper and we're finally nailing down a time to go to Ft. Wilderness. I've been there a few times growing up (last time in 1994 in the cabins) but have little to no knowledge base other than this message board about anything Ft. Wilderness.

I guess my situation/question is this: we're going November 11-17 with friends of ours. We are taking our 6 year old and they are taking their 5 year old. We're going to use the pop up and they have a god awful large tent (13x17). Which site type would be most preferable for us? Obviously, we won't need anything but electricity and water, but do the partial sites have a big enough space to fit a pop up and a tent that size? I've searched and found old answers prior to the renovations and was looking for something more current. Any opinions would be great. You guys rock!

IMO the partial sites should be perfect for you. Just note on your reservation what you need to accomodate, and you should be fine. When I was looping around a couple of months ago there were sites with a lot more than that crammed on them...against the rules I would think. But, a pup and tent should be compliant and should fit fine.

I agree with DaveInTn- most partial sites would work fine.

But, I would recommend a Full or Preferred site. Set the tent up on the sand pad, and the trailer on the concrete. All the Full and Preferred sites still have sand pads- and have longer paved areas than the partial sites. Make sure to note the tent size on your reservation, because there are some sand pads smaller than those tent dimensions. But, those sites are in the minority.

I would stay away from a premium site- unless you want to set the tent up on concrete.

I talked to Rhonda at DreamsUnlimited and got hooked up with a full site. I don't need the location of the preferred, so this works perfect for me. Also, I overstated my buddy's tent (of course). It's 13x12, not whatevertheheckisaidoriginally.

It looks real nice.

I see it has a Florida tag on it, but what in the world is that huge heater doing in there?

You probably can get by without AC in November, so it looks like you are good to go.

I got it about a year ago...FOR FREE. It had new vinyl replaced in 2007 and it's in great condition for its age (1972 Coleman). I'm replacing the heater with a 13,000 BTU a/c unit ducted through the floor and out the side because of course I don't need a heater in Florida .

Anyone got any ideas for a low profile faucet to replace the one in the photo? It isn't functional and I'd like the ability to have running water inside the unit.

You can just go to Home Depot or Lowes for your faucet. That's what we did for the kitchen and bathroom. You are going to spend a fortune for the same thing if you go to a camping store.

The problem I face, though, is that my sink cabinet folds down in half to accommodate lowering the pup and the faucet has to be low profile enough not to be taller that the feet when folded down. I'm not sure that they'll sell faucets like that st Home Depot or Lowes, you know?

NEVER say never! We were camping the first week of January and it got into the 20's a couple of nights, needless to say we used heat. We used to have a p/u that had a furnace, but that seemed like overkill, so we bought a small ceramic, electric heater that worked fine to take the chill off.(especially returning from a late night potty run) You WILL want a/c, but depending on the time of year, heat is not out of the question! Have fun!

Also, we were at the Fort the week following Thanksgiving last year and there were days that we needed heat AND AC......sometimes both on the same day.

I was kidding about the not needing heat thing in Florida. I should've used a instead of a .

Anyway, we've got a small ceramic heater with a fan we used in January, so I agree that the one in the pup is overkill for FL. The space would be better utilized with an a/c, which we'll need more often, in my opinion.

Disney Bunny, thanks for the link. I was *hoping* to get something less $$ than that, but it seems nothing comes cheap on a camper this old (except the original cost, of course).
