I am considering accepting a position with WDW in Jan.

I can't afford housing and daycare so I thought to bring my vintage 76 road king to Florida behind my POS truck.

Are there any sites that take long term or monthly rentals within the area?

Where could I even start my search? I have found RV parks but they are nightly.

Thanks, April

I know there are Campgrounds in the Winterhaven area that has monthly rates, but I noticed that you said a 76 model. Last year when we stopped in Ocala at a campground they stated that they have a restriction on older models. I guess we now have Rv snobs. Our's is a 92 model and they let us in.

We are staying next month in Sherwood Forest RV Park. We got a great deal for the week!It seems that they had monthly rates also. Ask for snowbird rates. It is a really nice campground. Good luck!

Even Disney offers a monthly rate at Ft. Wilderness during the winter months but they may not have any available this late. I think they are in the neighborhood of $1600-1700 per mo. I may be way off on that since I haven't seen the cost in a couple of years. Any way, I think that is only available Jan-Mar. You might call CRO and see how much. If you work for Disney they might give you an employee discount. That might have to come through Disney HR, though.

Also, most of the snowbird campgrounds are booked by now and one thing you may not have considered or may not be aware of is that most, if not all, require you to have a separate electrical meter when you long term. I think you are responsible for deposits and connection fees as well as disconnection fees. However, most of these campgrounds already have the meter boxes set so it is less than a new installation, but you will have to pay a monthly electric bill and that can be a lot of electricity to cool an older travel trailer in the spring and summer months in Florida.

I know Disney doesn't have the age restriction though. There was a vintage camping club that met at FW just within the last month or so.

A couple of months back when we were staying at FW, I met some folks across the road from us who were working for WDW and were staying at FW. Their home was up north, got jobs at WDW for an extended period, and brought the trailer to stay in. Sort of seemed to be a job/vacation for them. Not sure about what kind of deal they got on the site, but it sure would be convenient to be right there on property, no commute, no utilities, etc.

 Hmmmmmmmmm, now you got me thinkin'!!!!!!!!
