We've been home for a week now and oh, last Wednesday, Thursday, DH and I started to get the most horrible intestinal flu. Couldn't keep anything down, horrific stomach cramps, I had a fever (he didn') ... I"m on my 4th day and I still feel pretty shakey though the worst is over.

Thought I'd do a little checking since they just closed a water park near us (that we've never been to) and they're symptoms were 100% accurate with ours.

So I dunno .... just trying to do some super sluething this Monday evening.

While we did not stay at HRH we did visit there and swim in their pool last week on 8-15.

We returned home on 8-19 and that evening and all the next day I had an upset stomach, 8-21 my wife had an upset stomach and my 13 yr old son was throwing up.

We chalked it up to a virus :confused3 .

Anyway I hope you are better soon. I passed through us fairly quickly.

Maybe there is a med doc on here that could confirm this, but I would think the incubation period for something like that would only be about a day or 2 before you started coming down with it, so if you didn't get sick until about 3 or 4 days back, sounds like you caught it there in your home town.

The one at the waterpark here was a very common parasitic disease called cryptosporidiosis. Symptoms occur 2-10 days after being infected - average being around 7 ... so we'd be right in there if that's what we had.

Who knows though. The girls didn't get sick. (Knocking on wood about that one since their first day of school is tomorrow.) But Bob and I have literally been put through the wringer with this bug ... it's nasty.

I was just wondering if maybe anyone else got sick. If not ... yeah!! Because this is one horrible bug! I'm on 4 or 5 now and I'm still not 100%. Ugh.

Hope you get to feeling better, sounds pretty bad.

That "bug" is going around in many states.

And all I thought I brought back from Orlando was a lighter bank account. :rotfl2:

It's a horrible bug though. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Sorry you're not feeling well, Holly.

DH & I almost always returned home sick from our Orlando vacations, whether we stay at our timeshare, HRH or a WDW hotel. Sometimes it's a stomach bug or our stomachs yelling at us from eating all sorts of foods we wouldn't eat at home (we eat a heart healthy diet at home); or return with a cold/flu.

I think it's just such a melting pot of bacteria that most tourists haven't built up an immunity to. I used to live in Fort Lauderdale, big tourist destination, and when relatives would visit us down there, they'd return home sick, too.

These past few trips, we've worked really hard to keep our immune systems up. In the days before our trip, we try to allot extra time for preparing, so we're not quite as stressed. We bring premium loose-leaf Chinese white tea and brew it daily in our room. We always bring our daily vitamins, scope out some veggies with every meal. Wash our hands all the time -- especially before using the restroom as well as after (had a nasty UTI last year returning from WDW -- first one in over 20 years for me). We also bought the same antibacterial hand gel my cardiologist uses at his hospital.

Knock on wood, after three trips now, we've come home as healthy as when we left!

Hope y'all get to feeling better soon :)
