Second off, I do think China has something to do with this, but at the same time I think they know to watch out with us, because without our economy, their crippled.

A lot of people keep saying that, but I really have to wonder. You name the product and China apparently produces it. They have the entire world for a customer. I sometimes wonder what the real impact of a serious boycott or embargo would be. I'm sure we are a good part of their export profits, but, considering all the other countries they sell their goods to, would it really be enough to cripple them? I think it's come down to "we need them more than they need us".

It definently will come down to that soon, and that is the horrible part. I could try boycotting 'Made in China', but would everyone really boycott Chinese goods? I mean look at how so many of us Americans are hooked on Wal Mart :confused3

Not allowing Chinese goods into the nation, and boycotting Chinese goods, would cripple them at this moment, and if Europe joined in, it could be a devastater.

At the same time, China does not seem to have the military we want to be playing with. They have had an AGGRESSIVE army build up, that now means a million man army and weapons we do not want involved. Is all I can say is, lets hope those diplomatic talks work!

I think the issue right now, though, is Kim Jong Il.

North Korea does not want to stop, and we are going to have to find ways to have them stop.

I have many issues with the Chinese leadership, but I think that it is misguided to engage in a cultural boycott of China. Interaction with Chinese people and exposure to other customs creates international understanding. Even if you regard China as an enemy, visiting the China pavilion at Epcot may lead to a better understanding of that enemy.

I was kidding. But that does raise an interesting question. Where do you draw the line?

You draw the lines at feeding your money to China, and that especially means picking the local small business guy over the big chain :thumbsup2

Why give Home Depot your cash over the local hardware store?

Why give Wal Mart your cash if you can find an all American employed retailer, or close, near you?

Why give your money to oil companies swimming in oil, like Lukoil, when you can give your money to an All American employed and pumped gasoline company named Valero?

That is where you start to think.
