My son and I are going to Disney very soon; just the two of us. I am 22 weeks pregnant and just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes and have another complication which leads to bathroom urges (when I have to go I have to go then; I could maybe hold it 15 minutes but not more).

My son has food allergies so I familiar with talking to the chef and dining requests.

I am hoping for some advice on how to handle long lines; all lines will be long it’s July in Disney! I plan on getting Genie Plus, but am wondering about leaving lines due to a sudden need for the bathroom. Usually I would have someone stay in line if this happened and talk to a cast member as I rushed out of line to go to the restroom, but it is just the two of us this time so there would be no one to hold a spot. Any advice? Make friends with the people next to me in line? I will obviously do my best to go before we get in line (my son is 4 so we already have to do that) but when I have to go I have to go! Also due to my pregnancy we won’t be doing any “big rides”, but even some of the tame rides get long lines!

I would try for a DAS either in the park or online 30 days before your trip

the first post of this thread has information on the DAS

just to let you know you should wear protection because even the lightning lanes are often 15min plus and you have to add the ride time in on top. It makes it very stressful. Also if you have scanned into the ride they don't let you come back if you have to leave to go to the bathroom (in my experience). You will have to get another return time. As for the diabetes. Watch your sugar closely. It is hard to manage with the walking and heat. Make sure you are well hydrated (which won't help the bathroom but will keep you safer). This could be very challenging to manage. I am sure you will be able to but you will need to be careful as I am sure you know.

We're at WDW right now and LL have been horrendous for the most part. Buzz was so bad that I had an anxiety attack, threw up in the bathroom and went back to the room. I'm talking over 20 minutes in LL using DAS for many, many attractions.

OP, what does your doctor suggest? Maybe try Depends?

I would either plan on not getting much done and just enjoy being there. Going pregnant is exhausting and caring for a toddler with your newly diagnosed diabetes is pushing it. I would talk to your doctor about it and maybe skip this trip. WDW will be there in a couple of years.

When I’ve been pregnant at the parks, I mostly enjoyed shows, shopping, eating, and ambiance. There are so many rides I couldn’t do, but I enjoyed everything else.

Also, keep in mind that you will probably run into long lines in the bathrooms. So, even after leaving the line, you may not be able to get to the bathroom and into a stall within 25 minutes of the sudden urge.
Also, figure in that your preschooler may not be moving as fast as you need to. I’d suggest wearing Depends or another adult brief brand - many are more absorbent and less conspicuous than they were just a couple of years ago.
I also agree with the posters who suggested waiting or at least discussing the trip with your doctor.

You need to talk to your doctor about this trip. It could be downright dangerous for you and the baby. The heat is dangerous anyway, but for a pregnant woman who is also dealing with diabetes it could be catastrophic. We were just there and even with fans, mister fans, cooling towels, water bottles, getting there first thing in the morning, frequent breaks, and short days, we each had moments of feeling sick or faint. Your son may be disappointed to delay the trip, but disappointment is better than the trauma if you were to have a medical emergency while on the trip.

How long have you known about the gestational diabetes?
I had it with my last pregnancy, and it was horrible. I spent so much extra time planning and preparing meals. Eating out was practically impossible, since I'm not a salad eater. I can't imagine trying to eat the right things frequently enough, plus dealing with the bathroom urgency at Disney. Being alone with a 4 year old is a whole other thing.
I took my 11 year old to DLR in the spring, and with all the extra hydrating (plus I was on my period) I ended up going to the bathroom a ton. He was 11, so sometimes I just sent him on rides by himself, while I took a bathroom break.
I would not expect to be able to rejoin a line if you leave midway through. It's just hard to squeeze through, especially with a 4 year old, and even the slowest lines are still typically moving enough to make it hard to figure out where you left off.
If you do go, then I would definitely try for DAS and plan to purchase ILL for any of those rides he's tall enough for.

People get into fights trying to get back into line to there family Tell them that
