Does anyone wear them anymore?
I was watching I Love Lucy, and a lot of those other old shows, and I notice how smooth and trim their torsos look, even on the bigger women. I hate the idea of being "corseted', but what a nice shape it creates! My mom always wore one. Do they even sell long line bras anymore?

I don't know, but gee, what a great idea!

Can't wait for some answers!

Yes, long line bras are still available. I sold a ton of them when I worked in formal wear. They not only make your figure look better bec they smooth the torso, but the cups are actually supported by the torso of the bra and therefore are in the right place on your body. Supporting the breasts to the proper position (nipple at mid point of your upper arm) will immediatley make you look thinner and younger. I recommend them, but would caution that the pretty pretty ones are useless for doing what you want in terms of smoothing the lines of your torso, nor are they generally comfortable for all day wear. We sold a lot of the formal wear bras for every day wear and it was because they were sturdy yet comfortable (stretch lace between the boning was the key combo).

Wow, thanks for the info! I think I see a long line bra in my immediate future!

I wore one for my wedding in 1998, because my gown had a low-cut back. It was actually pretty comfortable. I think I got it at Lady Grace. I wouldn't want to wear one everyday, however.

I like this one because it comes down to the hips. If it had good support shoulder straps, I could see myself wearing this.

I like that one too...you ladies feel free to post up more examples?

You're hilarious!

As a man, Herc, have you ever noticed that smooth torso look of the 50's? I mean, even women with "rolls" would be roll-less wearing one of those bras.

Don't know about the smooth torso look. But I do prefer the curvy look of the 50's and 60's. Gimmee a woman with a little meat on her bones rather then today's skinny chicks with fake'ums that look like Olive Oyl holding two watermelons. :crazy2:

Please post more examples... I still can't visualize what it is your talking about...:rolleyes1 :magnify:

That looks so uncomfortable to me! I have a similar bra from about 15 years ago when I was a bridesmaid in a wedding with a backless dress....and that is the ONLY time it was worn.

I used to wear one and it does make the upper body look so nice. ;) These days I can no longer tolerate one...makes me want to vomit, no really...it bothers my upper stomach sooo much it gets flung off before I can finish dressing. :sad2:

Unless the person had that figure to start with, wouldn't the wearer end up as a muffin top in reverse? What would that even be in teen street lingo...a muffin stump?

I can see how these bras would smooth you out, but I can only imagine wearing one in the dead of winter. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd end up hot and sweaty.

I have owned a few over the years. I only wore them for weddings. After each wedding, I tossed them in the trash and swore I'd never wear one again.:rolleyes1

My oldest aunt(60 something) wears one everyday. I don't know how she does it.

As long as they purchase the correct size, they should have to worry about having a muffin top.

If the bra comes down to the hips, and widens out at the hips, there shouldn't be a muffin. That's the idea, to smooth out the rolls!

Here's a bigger woman, and if the bra came down longer, it would smooth out the waist and hips.
