I know this Thread may be moved. I just didn't know where to post it. :confused3

So Monitors, please move this Thread where you think I may get the most suggestions. Thank you. :goodvibes

My siblings and I no long live in the area and really could use some advice.

My parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary is coming up and my siblings and I would love to throw them a mini wedding. Inviting their children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, their spouses and some friends. I'm thinking about 60 people. I must cut it down there, because if I don't their could easily be 300 hundred people. Think Big Italian Family:scared1:

I need some suggestions for reasonably priced, great food, a little room for a dance floor, restaurant halls.

Please help. I would love to hear all suggestions, Nassau County, Suffolk County, prices, reviews, etc.

Thank you!

My sister got married last year at Majestic Gardens in Rocky Point. Very pretty. Not sure how much you are looking to spend, but I think it was around $110 a person.

You should probably post this on www.lifamilies.com or www.liweddings.com and someone can help you more than I can!

My Sister was going to get married here and it's very nice (she canceled the wedding though)

my sister had her sweet 16 here for about that size party you are talking about. It was a great night

Really pretty location

Old fashioned but well done catering at the Milleridge Cottage

And big over the top ITALIAN style

(that's in Brooklyn though but really blow your mind kind of crazy Italian stuff)

Let me think though I know tons of places.

Both my brother & I got married at the Fox Hollow in Woodbury. It is beautiful and very private. They have large and small rooms available. The owners also run the Chateau Briand and Wesbury Manor in Westbury.

If you are going smaller scale both Danfords in Pt. Jefferson & the Three Village Inn in Setauket are lovely on the water settings with great food. They are less "catering hall-ish" but still do weddings and also are great as they have lodging available.

:banana:Oh I got married at Westbury Manor( I don't think they have a smaller venue though??)

This is so funny, I have been to a wedding in almost all of the halls mentioned.:rotfl:

I'm really thinking of a more intimate place. More of a restaurant that that has a private room attached that can accommodate up to 60 people. Sit down Dinner, Drinks and a small dance floor. I will do the decorating. I have a friend who can supply flowers for centerpieces at cost.

I'm thinking about spending around $60-$80 per head, much lower for children under 12, with 20% gratuity and 8.5 percent tax. This cost does not include the DJ or the Gift we are giving them.

Is this at all possible????

I think it is in the Roslyn area. There were a few rooms, but I think all were on the smaller side. We went to a Bar mitzvah there last year. The food was good and so was the service.

Thanks Jeffrey for posting.

I will definitely be checking this place out. Great suggestion.

Mama Lombardis on the sound @ Port Jefferson country club. They also just bought the french restaurant in Patchogue right on the waters edge. They have a seperate room that has a nice little stage and dance floor, cozy place. They have their traditional (delish) italian fare and they consider this their new steakhouse too. (same mama lombardis owners as the original in holbrook)
Check their website.

Another suggestion would be Mama Lombardi's in Holbrook. An Italian restaurant that has accomodations for catering.

Both Danfords and the Three Village Inn are restaurants that can handle larger parties, but are not catering halls per say. They are in the Setauket/Pt. Jefferson area & would be in your price range. We are having my daughter's first communion dinner at one of these, still waiting on the date from the church so we can see which one we can get!

This is the site for the Three Village Inn: http://www.lessings.com/LES_Splash_TVI.asp

Milleridge Inn, I think that is Plainview????

Has a cute little "village" there also, cute shops to walk around and then the
Inn where you'd have the meal.

I LOVE three Village Inn myself! Good Luck Choosing!!

If you are looking for a more intimate place you may also want to check out Riviera in Massapequa. We got married there almost 15 years ago so I'm not sure of prices or how is it now but we were very happy (reasonable prices and good service). It is right on the water and it only has one function at a time. Good luck in your search!

Its in Baldwin. DH and I got married there over 10 years ago, and the food was very good. The prices were very reasonable back then. They handle more than just weddings, so would probably be flexible for an intimate event.

Here ia another vote for Milleridge Inn. For a while they were getting a bad rap for parties but I've been to two showers there in the last year and they were really great. At one showering a mid to small size wedding was going on and they had a dj. If you do a weekend afternoon the price was pretty good considering the food was great. Everything was on their website but call them too to double check.

We did my inlaws 50th last year ath the Thatched Cottage. Room was perfect size for the 80 or so people we had, nice view, food ok (not fabulous). It was nice I just wasn't wowed. The service was not so hot. Alot people just kind of standing around at times and many liked to touch their face and hair. (Sorry when I was younger I did food service and that is such a HUGE nono that I cant help but notice!) THe price was probablly around $70 each maybe even higher because we added on.

We were originally going to go with Verdis (in Hicksville or Westbury on Old Country Rd.) but I think one brother didnt care for it. The price was amazing say $50-$55 for soup to nuts including champagne toast> I leaned toward this place because so many people rave about the food. I know a family that owns their own restaurant/pizzeria that can have their parties anywhere they want but always go here.

Good luck in the planning. Try and have fun and communicate alot!

I know a few people who've been to Larkfield Manor for events, including one who recently had her daughters Christening there (her family is in the hospitality industry). They've all had good things to say about it. It is a catering hall. I think it is in your price range too.

Restaurants: Mill Pond House in Centerport is very good. An excellent restaurant is The Argyle in Babylon (this would be my pick). I don't know if either would allow a DJ though.

I just went to a wedding at the Royalton in Roslyn. I can honestly say it was the best I've been to for a wedding. The food was excellent, the place is beautiful. They do only one affair at a time. Might be out of your price range, but you never know.

Fox Hollow is nice, food is decent, very pretty.

I would skip Coral House though. They've gone down hill the last few years.

Capt Bills on the water in Bayshore is reasonable. B Smith's is great but its in Sag Harbor. I would really look at the Milleridge.

DH is a volunteer firefighter, and his firehouse held a lot of their parties there, around the time of our wedding. We attended a few other weddings there as well, and all were lovely. This is going back over 10 years, though, and now my oldest DD (from a previous marriage) is engaged. Guess this place will be crossed off the list :sad2:
