Long Island,New York Roll Call

Port Jefferson here!

Hey ... great thread! I always knew that DVC was popular among New Yorkers. It's nice to see how many are fellow LIers. We joined in '94 and have never regretted it! (Of course we do miss the free admission ... )

Hello from Bellerose Terrace...we're as far west as you can get in Nassau County!

Huntington, but now live in Manhattan during the week and Port Jefferson on the weekends! I think it was 2000 when I purchased points at BWV.

Nesconset here,

We purchased at VWL in 2001 and love it. Wish We had don't it sooner. Just returned from a stay at OKW, 2 bdrm. have stayed at HH - 2bdrm, BWV - 2 bdrm, VWL - studio, OKW - Studio and at OKW - 2 bdrm. Have already planned a 2 bdrm at HH for Nov and a 2 bdrm at VWL for Feb 04.

We're also squeezing in a Disney 7 day western cruise in April 04.

Glad to see so many Long Islanders enjoying the good DVC life.

Wading River here. Mcazer what part of Port Jeff Station? I used to live on School Drive.

DEER PARK HERE
Own at OKW and HH just got back from HH went on easter break ,Had a great time except someone stole my bike

We live just North of where Old Town Rd and Bicycle Path cross. Our block wasn't here 5 years ago! We built in 1999. Even though we so far North, we are not Comsequogue School District. Instead, our kids go to Middle Country School District.

It is very nice, so close to Port Jeff, we often go into town and watch the Ferry, or drool over the people docking their yachts at Danfords.

Hunting Station here
Bought Boardwalk in 2000
Beachclub add on in 2002
Wish we had done it sooner

Another Commack . Bought BWV in 2000 and added another batch there in 2001.

Just back from 10 days in a 2 BR at VWL and love our DVC!

Mineola here. I was born and raised in Flushing (Queens) which is geographically part of L.I.
My best friend and I bought in February, 1992. The best thing we have ever done. OKW is our home of course but we have stayed at VB (were there for the "hard opening"), HH and recently BWV.
Yes we loved those free park passes and miss them very much.
Long Island seems to be full of DVC members. I recall a member get together at the L.I. Marriott in 1994. It was brutally cold and the guides were in town for a "Florida Real Estate Show" at the Nassau Coliseum. There were a lot of folks jammed into a smallish catering room and we had a ball. Played Disney trivia, met fellow members and enjoyed ourselves.
I keep bumping into people who are members or have friends or relatives who are members.
Any one up for a DIS/DVC meet?

A LI get together would be great. Did the guides really come to you? I have heard so many great guide stories on the boards, ours only contacts you when we have called him and when we did the add on at HH it was like he was doing us a favor.

Yes some of the guides came to L.I. for a "Florida Real Estate Show" at the Nassau Coliseum. They had a booth where they were promoting DVC. The show was to sell homes, retirement living, land etc. in Florida. The 'DVC Meet' was added at the Marriott next door to encourage members and sell points. It was a lot of fun. I remember being surprised at the number of people who showed up. I presume that they were all members. At the time DVC was only a little over 2 years old and no one really knew much about it. My guide was not there but we had fun playing Disney trivia and meeting people.

Hi Guys! We are from Lindenhurst. We bought at the Wilderness Lodge in 2000. You know you have it bad when you are wondering if you should go for the extension on your house or buy more points.

No as far as I know the guides only came up for the "Florida" show that one time. Too bad. But if they had a DVC meet they would probably need the Coliseum itself to hold it with all the NY & LI DVC members!

I would love a DVC meet also - let me know where and when!!:D
