We flew to Japan in June and the guy behind me coughted the whole time. He was so sick, I did end up getting a sore throat for about 3 days after we landed and of course I'm not sure if it was from him, but most likely. I had my Airborne in my checked baggage which I would have been taking while on that flight so I probably wouldn't have gotten sick at all. So next year when I go I will take Airborne with me in my purse.
I got a headache on the flight (probably from listening to him cough) so I had to ask for tylenol. I had to fill out forms and I was asked questions about the headache they are very cautious becasuse of the Swine Flu now so I will bring my own tylenol next time.
A pen to fill out the landing permission and custom forms.
Japan airlines supplied a blanket for us.
We all had EarPlanes in our ears we wouldn't fly without them, no pain at all! You may want to get 2 pair one for the way back we had to switch planes therefore took them out then put them back in and had to use the same pair on the way back. I"d say they are a little less efficient on the way back so next time I will buy another.
I loved my mask and neck pillow.
Petpto Bismol was another item I won't fly without in my purse again. DS got an upset stomach from the food.
I also layer up my clothing in case I get hot I can take off and put on if I'm cold which happens quite a bit on a long flight.
Hard candy is another thing I like or something that takes a long time to eat it passes the time.
I didn't use earplugs because they had headphones with movies, music etc.
Have Fun!
