Long Distance Rates from Florida

Morning all,
We are heading off for our 2 weeks with Mickey in 13 days, and were wondering what people have done to get around the very expensive long distance rates calling fom the resorts/ship/ports of call back home.
We will be bringing our cell phones, but cannot find out any real information on cost per minute or cheaper times of the day to call
Any suggestions?

Never, ever make a call from from a hotel phone without using a calling card or credit card. The rates do not fluctuate depending on the time of day AND they are insanely expensive. There are usually instructions on hotels phones telling you how to use your credit card to make a call, if not call the hotel operator.

We use our cell phones for all calls when away from home. The only number that gets called from our hotel phone is room service.

On the ship, we only communicate via email from the ships PC stations.

Honestly, my method for dealing with high phone rates... if it doesn't involve a death certificate, surgery, or a police report, there is no need to call. Vacation is time to "unplug" for us. Even on vacations that the kids have been home with the grandparents, that rule STILL applies!!!
