hi there, i am just about to book our airfare for may to disneyland...we were to fly out of vancouver bc, but right now to lax they want over 2600 for 5 of us:scared1: ...i priced out of seatac and we can fly into lgb(long beach) for 1211...ok, that price difference is crazy...is it better to fly into lgb over lax...is it cheaper to shuttle to the HOJO and is it a lot closer...our last two trips we flew into lax and had no problems whatsoever...Just need to know what is the better option...thanks :goodvibes

I'd pick LGB over LAX any day. Much smaller airport, extremely easy to navigate in and out of and only about 14 miles to DLR. Taxi is approx. $40 flat rate to the DLR area resorts. I'm not certain about shuttles.

Love, love, love Long Beach! It is small and very managable!

It is a great choice and our preferred airport when going to DLR.

We are flying out of PDX and into LGB. We have never flown into this airport (only John Wayne and once to LAX). I have heard so many great things about this airport, that we decided to try it too. We are going the end of March. If this is before your trip, I will let you know how it is.

We always fly into LGB, it takes hardly anytime to get your bags and get on the road. We found it to be cheaper flying out of portland instead of Seattle this time, so we will have our first portland experience on March 29. Hope your flight is great! The cheapest shuttle we found was californiasupershuttle.com and they are private and on time. $52 each way for 3 adults and 2 kids

We're flying from Seattle to LGB in mid March. For the 4 of us, it is going to cost us $556 return. If we flew out of Vancouver, it would have cost us $2100. The difference is really phenomenal. You may want to check out AlaskaAir.com for flights. $1211 sounds a bit high for SEA-LGB return.

LGB is closer to Anaheim than LAX. Will let you know about our experience when we come back.

We always fly in LGB! Love it, it is so small it is fast and easy to get in and out. Last summer flat rate taxi was $45 to Disneyland (I think any hotel, we stayed at Hojos though) It is not a flat rate back to the airport, so it may be a bit more (maybe $55?) We got our driver to do a flat rate back though for either $45 or $50 can't remember right now. It's about a 20-30 min. ride depending on traffic, closer than LAX though.

How do you convince the taxi driver to do a flat rate on the return???

They won't do a flat rate on the return anymore. The DLH used to give you a coupon for the flat rate on the return but I was told they no longer do that. Depending on what time of day you are leaving, it could get pretty pricey due to traffic or construction. We flew into LGB and made reservations with a car service that met us at the airport and then returned us with a flat fee each way. It worked out to aboyt $47 each way. The flat rate from the airport is now $45. So it was just $2 more the one way and who knows how much cheaper it was on the return.
