Our Cast:
DawnMaree: That would be me, the ultimate planner for our whole group. After this trip I think I still need to perfect my planning.
Rob: My husband. Not as gung-ho about Disney as I am but still was excited to go on this trip.
Evan: 4-year-old son, a.k.a. Papas boy. He is definitely a temperamental child who needs a lot of attention. We had some trying times with him this vacation.
Alec: 2½-year-old son. Daddys boy by day, Mommys boy by night.
Grandma: My mom. Very generous lady, my best friend. She was looking forward to relaxing by the pool (ha).
Papa G: My dad. This would be the official Papa of Evan. He is completely crazy for his grandsons and really would spend the entire time with them if he could.
Grammy: My mother-in-law. First time going to Disney World and really the first vacation of this kind of magnitude for her and Papa W.
Papa W: My father-in-law. He is not a very expressive person, just went along with what everyone else wanted. Grammy had to warn him ahead of time about how expensive Disney really was.
Animal Kingdom - Monday, November 10th
All up early again to go to the AK. It looked like it may rain but we went anyway. Big mistake. By the time we went through the turnstiles and walked into the park a bit it was raining pretty steadily. We put on our ponchos. We had brought a rain cover for the stroller luckily. The big problem we had was with Alec. He didnt want his poncho on and didnt want to go in the stroller. He wanted Rob to carry him. Pretty impossible in the rain. We stood under shelter waiting for the rain to clear up which it did briefly. Grabbed Fastpasses for Kilimanjaro Safari and went on the Pangani Trail. Just enough time to get to our timed FP for KS. By the end of the safari Alec had fallen asleep. Too much action there! We were all kind of hungry so we decided to split up for lunch. All the guys went to Flame Tree BBQ which they all loved. The ladies went to Tusker House. Grandma got the chicken salad which she loved. Grammy and I got the rotisserie chicken which I thought was just okay.
Met up with the guys and went over into DinoLand. The boys, along with Rob and Papa G, went on Triceratops Spin while I went to get FP for Primaeval Whirl. Rain again. Evan and Alec started acting a little miserable so we decided to go to the Boneyard. Another mistake. All the slides were closed due to the rain and the boys just couldnt understand that. In fact, we didnt even know they were closed until we got to the top of the slides and then couldnt do it. A little miserable turned into extremely miserable. We had enough with the temperaments and the rain so we decided to forget the FP for PW and just call it a day and go back to the room. I may have been not so good a Mommy that day and pushed the boys when they werent feeling well. Big slap in the face for me.
Went back to the rooms and called Dining for new PS at Spoodles as our original PS was at Rainforest Café in DownTown Disney. Not going there in the rain. Even taking the ferry over to the BoardWalk we got a pretty wet. Dinner was really good though and the weather cleared up by the end. We all walked back to our rooms and hit the hay very early. No parks scheduled for tomorrow, thankfully...
