I am heading to London 13-15th to a conference with work. I am in the Westminster area (Premier Inn County Hall) and the conference is at QEII centre.
The days are fairly full on with a number of workshops and study visits.
Both evenings have dinners organised. With all due respect to other delegates I would appreciate suggested options for dinner or a drink should I feel the need to get out of the suit and relax on one of the nights.

Can't help much as I'm very much a London virgin!

But, I would be interested in how you get on at the hotel - we have booked there for 3 nights in October :)

I did find what looks like a nice Indian restaurant quite near on the Strand if you are interested - just across Waterloo bridge.

Will do Tim :thumbsup2

Hmmm that might be a plan. Sadly the choice at Brick Lane that my brother took me to would not be an option :)

Thanks Tim. Brick Lane was priced like being at home. But guess as this is in the centre this will be the norm.

Hope you have a great time, here in sunny London

Reid,

The QEII centre isn't far from Victoria (about 10 min walk) and there is lots of choice for eating out there but mainly restaurant chains (ASK pizza, Prezzo, Ha! Ha! etc). You may find a few pubs that do food also.

There are a few eateries near the hotel and you aren't far from Waterloo there either where you will find other places to eat. You are more or less on top of the riverbank where you are staying so if you take a stroll along the river, you're bound to come across places to wine and dine.

Hope this helps :)

As others have said the Premier Lodge in County Hall is a great location - you can just wander down the South Bank. Personally I would have a look around the Tate Modern (its free!) and/or book some cheap mid week theatre tickets but it depends what you are interested in - or you just want a rest and some food :lmao:

The Tate was a distraction while down visiting my brother in 2006. But on this occassion it will only be on either the Sunday evening or Monday evening that I will have some time. So food will be the only possibility :)

I am down there tomorrow till Sunday, if we go in anywhere nice by the river I will let you know.

Reid, my bro said years ago when he lived in London he used to love going for a pint on the Tattershall Castle, its a boat on the same side as the Houses of Parliament but further along heading down river (Tower Bridge direction). Not sure exactly where but we are going to go and find it at the weekend, will let you know if it is a nice place for a meal/drink. On the net it shows people sitting on the top deck in the open air enjoying the views.

I know the Tattershall Castle - I've been there a couple of times and it is really nice.

I have friends from Lincolnshire, they live near the reall Tattershall Castle and they always eat here when they come down to London too!

We had a fantastic time down in London and on our day trip to Paris (beautiful city). We did eat a couple of times at the Tattershall Castle which is opposite the London Eye, nearest tube station Embankment. The food is cheap, cheerful and filling. You can sit on deck or below deck in comfortable seats, there are large picture windows of the Thames, London Eye which have a few tables next to them.

We enjoyed going there and especially liked viewing the London Eye. I think the meals were about £8 or something like that which for London prices is extremely cheap. Very pleasant just sitting there taking in the view.

We also ate in a Pie Pub, nice pies on the opposite side to St Pauls, again another nice meal.

We stopped off for a drink at the Anchor pub again on the same side at the Tate Modern this was an old pub, 1600s built, didn't have a meal here but had an outside terrace you could sit in.

My fav was the Tattershall Castle. It also has free wifi.
