We are 4 ladies planning a short trip to London and perhaps a day trip someplace else? We have all been before, so want to see some other things...maybe Stonehenge, Windsor castle, Oxford........

What I am wondering..can anyone recommend any local tour companies that are reputable and reasonable?

Many thanks!

Will put on thinking cap and come back to you - but stonehenge might be too far it is a good 3/4 hour drive.

What about the London eye - it won't take too long and I recommend pre-booking on the net but it the weather is fine you get fantastic views across the city. Windsor and the castle aren't too far away. I am at work at the moment so will have a think and come back to you.

Express train from London Kings Cross to Cambridge takes 40 minutes and makes a great day out. Wouldn't bother with a tour, you can look around yourself and have just as much fun.

Thanks for the input!

We all seem to have already done some sights, so we're trying to do something new...I have done the EYE but the others have not, so they can do that and even I, may do again. One of the ladies really wants to see Stonehenge and they combine it with Bath, which I saw last year, so really don't want to see again quite so soon. We have been looking on Expedia at the tours and they are rather pricey which is why I thought, perhaps there may be some London operators that are a bit more reasonable.

How about Windsor, day trips?

I appreciate the help!!

If you just want to go to Windsor from London you ca take the train. It only takes about 30 minutes from Paddington (I think you may have to change trains at Slough). The Castle is right in the town so you won't have any problems getting to it from the station.

Windsor Train Service

Hampton Court is another lovely location for a day out from London. Again it's about 30 minutes by train (this time from Waterloo) and the Palace is a short walk from the station.

Windsor Castle is right opposite the station and they also have hop on and off buses that tour the town.

I'd agree with the Cambridge idea. It's so convenient for a day-trip from London and is a beautiful historic city. Punting along the backs down the river with a nice picnic makes for a blissful hour or so if it's sunny. :goodvibes
