I have a new candidate for a restaurant we will never step foot in again. This far surpasses Monster Cafe - which we didn't hate, but just thought there were better choices.
Lombard's takes the cake for the poorest management and the ability to rack up the most comedy of errors in one hour.
For some reason we had never tried this place in the umpteen times we have visited USO. So, we thought we would give it a try.
Seating was quick, but the table was not set up. So, they sat us down and the waitress went to go get the place settings while we looked at the menu.
She literally threw the stuff on the table. And I don't mean just shoving it on the table - she actually stood back and launched the stuff to the other end of the table - had it slide into place. Ok - maybe this is part of the theme.
We order, drinks come at a slow, but still reasonable wait. 30 minutes go by - still no food. People around us, who were sat after us, were getting their food. So, we politely ask the waitress if there is a problem. She says she will go look. 15 minutes later (now 45 minutes after we placed our order), haven't seen the waitress or food.
I was able to locate the manager, because the bus boy dropped a tray of food, breaking a bunch of stuff right next to us. He came out and berated the guy and instructed them how to clean it up.
Short while later, the manager slid a plate of food off a tray from a table he was bussing right next to the person sitting directly behind me. I felt food spatters, so I am pretty sure she had it worse.
After 45 minutes of watching the comedy show of frisbee plates and glasses, I ask the manager if there is a problem. (Remember, the waitress has disappeared.)
He comes back and says it will be another 5 minutes and he was very sorry. He was going to take 25% off the bill to start with and offer us dessert. We were happy with this arrangement. If he took 25% off the bill and we had our annual passes, that would make up for losing about an hour and 30 minutes of park time after factoring in eating time.
His 5 minutes turned into another 15 minutes (I was timing by that point). We finally got our food 1 hour after ordering and about 1 hour 15 minutes after being seated and 1 hour 25 minutes after placing our name on the wait list to be seated.
Then to top it off, the waitress finally reappears and brings DH a new drink. In a broken glass. There is a very noticeable crack completely around the middle of the glass. If DH had picked up the glass above the crack, he would have only had half a glass.
I bring it to the Manager's attention - just one more thing after all the other fiascos. He says that the drink was probably cold, cracked the glass and the waitress did not notice it. I noticed it from across the table. Plausible explanation, if the crack was small and hardly noticeable. But this was all the way through a thick glass with side cracks. And if the waitress didn't have a habit of slinging things, it may not have cracked.
We decline dessert - we just want out of there.
We get our bill - place the Annual Pass and CC in the slip.
Bill comes back without the Annual Pass discount. Manager overhears me ask DH if they took off the AP discount. He comes over and smugly says - well if you really want us to take it off, we can do that. We decline - WE JUST WANT OUT. But I did mention to him that he did say 25% to start with.
So, their "discount" for all the bad service and potentially dangerous drinking glass was only 10% as we would have automatically received the 15% discount for the AP.
I know it was just a comedy of errors, as the other people in the restaurant seemed to get in and out quickly. The food was ok, but it wasn't 1 hour wait ok.
Next time Margaritaville
