Logistics question related to Victoria & Albert reservation

I'm routinely on the waiting list for the Chef's Table.

1) Chef's Table, maybe.
2) But, normal rooms?

I would want to do option 2 if I were your mom. I'd be a bit tired out after Universal, and she may want some time to get dressed up and ready.

Other option would be if she didn't want to go to Universal with you, then the first day would work.

I just wouldn't do both Universal and V&A in the same day.

Day 2. I have done V&A. It's an experience. Not one I want to be rushed getting to. Plus she's the Harry Potter fan so don't rush her out of there!

For Beauty and the Beast you have other options for them to experience things.


And if the don't want to get up early on Day 3 who cares. It's a vacation, they can just sleep in and join you later!

And as for "rude" Don't worry about Rusty. If he is enforcing "rude" for everyone who books extra reservations at Disney he's got a full time job. If Disney didn't make you plan things 6 months in advance then we wouldn't all be so rude!

2) But, if lots of people make duplicate ressies, there are less ressies available for others who might want that ADR.
. . . this is why the Dining Reservation System was changed and now checks for ADR's too close to each other
. . . and, even more changes are on the way
3) I like to ask, "If you wanted an ADR and couldn't get it because someone else had a duplicate ADR, how would you feel?".
4) Sure, people say they will cancel soon, so others can take it, but many folks try to plan their vacation and meals well in advance.
5) If there are unavailable ADR's, their plans might have to change significantly.

NOTE: Regarding the 180 day, or 180+10 day, booking for meal ADR's.
For Disney: It is nice to know well in advance of restaurant occupancy/demand, and be able to predict revenue. ANY business would like this.
For Guests: Many people do complain about having to planning so far in the future, but many others like the idea of knowing they have the reservation, or have ample time to re-plan. In the past, people would be getting close to their vacation and then have to scramble for an ADR. This changed a lot of touring plans without a lot of time to adjust. Now, they can get their planning done and just anticipate the vacation. So, it is a toss-up, but Guest Surveys show most folks want the assurance of the ADR.

In theory I tend to agree. I do nto like holding multiple ADR's for any meal, and have seldom done so. I will book the difficult ones at 180 days out, mostly a PPO in each park, and as soon as my plan is firm, I let the extra go.t is getting more difficult to plan though, as DIsney is not releasing actual park hours in a timely manner. DAK is a real problem, and I am finding DHS to be as well. I know that if I do not have that back up in place, I am out of luck because you and I both know that it can be impossible to book the meal you want if you wait too long. I will say that I am not an advocate of booking meals willy nilly becuase you cannot make up you mind where you wil be or because you are hedging your FP bets, a practice I do not understand at all, but it is not as easy to plan any more.

Now I am a planner, so 180 days out I am in Dining Heaven! This is the first time in over ten years that I am struggling with a firm dining schedule.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, until Disney makes FP and ADR bookings the same window I will keep "hoarding" ADRs under various names/MDE accounts. How can I plan my meal 6 months in advance around my touring plan -- which can't be finalized until 60 days in advance (or 30 if I'm off site) -- even less time as of late with this park hours madness?

Disney has created a monster with the 180 days. There is no reason to fill a table 6 months in advance.

OP, you've gotten lots of great advice -- I'm sure no matter which day you pick your parents will have an amazing dinner! Eating at V&A is one of my Disney bucket list items.
