Logistics of a split stay

For the first part of our trip we are renting DVC points and adding the dining plan on. We don't have tickets yet, but I'll probably just get a one or two day ticket for this part. -This is where I wish Disney still had the half day tickets.-

The second half isn't booked yet, but we plan on staying at Pop also with the dining plan and 6 day tickets.

Does anyone know if I can merge the 2 trips on My Disney Experience? Or will I have to keep them as 2 separate trips? Since I'm renting points I assume I can't integrate them as one, but I really don't need 8 mugs from both dining plans!

You cannot merge the trips. They will show up as two separate reservations on MDE. The good news is, you should be able to book FP+ for both stays 60 days prior to your first check-in date. Bad news is you will have two 180+ ADR days (180 days prior to each reservation).

I would suggest not buying two sets of tickets as it is not necessary and will cost far more than simply buying one set of tickets to cover your entire length of stay over both reservations. Simply purchase the tickets separately for as many park days as you'd like and link them to your profiles in MDE. When booking your Pop stay, if you'd like to add the dining plan, simply call WDW and ask to book a "ticketless" package which is a room and dining plan with no tickets. These packages cannot be booked online.

You will end up with two sets of mugs if you purchase the dining plan with each stay.

I agree with the above. An 8-day ticket will be considerably less expensive than a 2-day+6-day. It will be valid for 12 days from the start date - which does NOT have to be arrival day unless you want. As long as that fits your schedule, I’d do it as PP suggests.

Enjoy your vacation!
