LOEWSFIRST Program Upgrades Question

A Club Room is just a Deluxe Room with extra priveledges. Right? You don't get a special room or stay in a certain section of the hotel. This is unlike Disney where you stay on a certain floor or in a certain building. Am I correct so far?

It would seem to me that (if you are a LoewsFirst member) having a Deluxe Room would automatically give you a Club Room upon arrival since they don't technically run out of Club Rooms. The Club Room is a Deluxe Room with extra amenities.

The upgrade with membership is contingent on availability.

Is my logic off base?

Thats almost completely wrong on all points. Which resort are you staying at? At RPR and HRH the club rooms are on the 7th floor. There are a variety of rooms on that floor. You have to specifically book club. You are given a special key to go to that floor. Booking a deluxe room does not give you club privileges. At PBH it is booked differently, but you still have to book club.

The LoewsFirst site says that upgrades are given if available. I know there is a chance that there would not be availability.

Club is not an upgrade listed. I have heard of it happening, so you can ask, but it is extremely rare, and there is usually a 100$ or so charge per night. I am loews gold and got the upgrade to deluxe. If you are platinum you get an upgrade to a suite. If you are gold, you can get a suite upgrade , if available, for 35$.

Club rooms are not specific rooms at PBH but a paid upgrade. You can book or upgrade to deluxe rooms without having club access. Being upgraded to club is not a LF upgrade but rather an upgrade that either you pay for or are given at the discretion of the hotel. Loews First benefits are available at rates booked through the Loews site, AAA but not through third party sites - for example, AP does not qualify for LF benefits, unless the hotel gives them at their discretion. If you are LF blue, then if an upgrade is available, you will be given one when arriving. There is almost always an upgrade available at the PBH but I wouldn't expect to go from gardenview to deluxe and club is almost certainly out of the question. Expect your upgrade to be one level from what you book except if you book deluxe as most suites are already accounted for.

Please, even if you are Platinum, they will not upgrade you to club in lieu of a suite. I personally think this is one of the shortcomings of the LF program. Since club rooms are cheaper than suites, I would think Loews would jump at the chance to offer club in lieu of suites if their guests request that instead, but they don't.

I wrote to LF suggesting that club instead of suite would be a nice option to have as a platinum member, and this is what I got back:

Anyway, we one time were "upgraded to a club floor without club privileges" at the PBH. Yes, that's right. You're not reading it wrong. The check-in person gushed over "what a nice upgrade" we received even though we didn't have club privileges. We had a Deluxe room in the Villa Wing.... I don't remember if it was floor 4 or 5, but we were considered to be on a "club floor." Again ... with no club privileges. (And, yes, we did try to swipe our cards anyway because how dumb of an "upgrade" is that? We paid for a deluxe and we got a deluxe.)

Doesnt ever hurt to ask tho, did you see damos upgrade? She got a villa suite and club!
