Hi - we may be in the Orlando area during Fall. We have a small dog (under 10 lbs) that may be traveling with us. Has anyone lodged at a hotel that allows pets that's near WDW property? I know there is a kennel on the property as well - but we're curious about a hotel where she is welcome so she could be with us overnight. Thanks!

The Portofino Bay Hotel, The Hard Rock Hotel, and The Royal Pacific Hotel all allow animals. These are the 3 resorts at Universal Orlando. The commute to the Disney parks is quite reasonable and when I was there in Jan. they offered a direct shuttle.

Some Residence Inn by Marriott allow pets, for an additional fee.

Holiday Inn Express Lake Buena Vista and Country Inn & Suites Calypso Cay. I have also discovered MANY hotels in the Choice Hotel chain offer pet friendly rooms. Highly allergic so I have to avoid them :) Go to www.choicehotels.com and look under the hotel amenities tab--it will say Pets Welcome or No Pets allowed.

Buena Vista Suites allows up to two small (25 lb or less) pets. There is a pet fee of $10 per night and a $50 per pet refundable deposit.

Did you leave your dog in his/her travel kennel in the room while you were gone?

The 3 resorts CRSTEPHE mentioned at Universal are all Loews hotels & are very pet friendly. They're also really nice hotels. You can leave your pet in the room. You don't even need a travel kennel, if you don't want to use it. Naturally, they don't clean your room with a pet running loose, but you can arrange a time to have it done.

The Omni @ ChampionsGate also allows pets. We haven't stayed there though, so I don't know how pet friendly they are.

Travel lodge allows dogs as well. there is a VERy nice Travel Lodge on 192, close to 95, it is a high rise hotel. I have stayed there 3 times and each time i have been very happy with the rooms.

They are very spacious and clean and there is a good many ammenities. NICE POOL AREA!

if you prefer to rent a private home try:

vacationrentals dot com

They have a list of privately owned pet friendly homes (you can tell the ones that are pet friendly as they have an image of a dog next to the listing).

Hope this helps

We just saw on Embassy Suites site that they are now dog friendly. There is an awsome Embassy in Lake Buena Vista-about 3 minutes from Downtown Disney.

The Sheraton Safari Hotel near Downtown Disney allows pets.
