Has anyone stayed at the lodge tower room at GF, it is a bigger room with a garden view at the same price of the standard room size lagoon view. Would love to see pictures as well. Just need advice if it is worth the $. About $66 more a night than a garden view room.

They are really nice rooms, basicly a standard room with an attached sitting area. They sleep 4, as the only bedding is 2 queens. Also, they are all decorated in the Cameo theme. Views are of either the courtyard pool or the marina.

Happy Planning!

thanks for the info, but do you think it is worth it. Let me tell you my situation. We have a 4year old who will sleeping on one of the beds, and a 1 year old who will be in a pack and play. I was concerned that a standard room does not have a place to put the pack and play. What are your thoughts. That was the only reason I was considering a larger room. Please let me know your thoughts

I booked one of those rooms today for the night before our cruise. I got a price of $357 with tax, is that a good price?

I was hoping to see you on the board tonight because you are the true Grand Floridian expert.:)

Thanks,
Lyn

nutsforgolf, I've stayed in a tower room. In general, I wouldn't recommend it for the extra $50 - $60/night. But if money isn't too big of an issue for you, I would try a tower room with your situation. The extra room might come in handy with the 1 yo - with the pack 'n play or crib and a high chair (the GF offers high chairs too).

By the way, in case you are interested - GF offers cribs in addition to pack 'n plays. The cribs are about half size of a regular crib. But our DD wouldn't have ever slept a wink in a pack 'n play.

I have some pictures of a tower room in this album...

The room pictures looked like a standard room, do you have any of the tower room with views of the sitting area?

How did you get a rate of $357 when the rack rates are $405. It sounds like you are staying the night of August 15th. That's when we are arriving too!!

Just a quick tip- if you stay lodge concierge there is no extra charge for the lodge tower room. Sure, you pay the extra for concierge, and you can't guarantee you'll get the tower room, but if it works out, it may make more financial sense (i.e. at least you're getting concierge benefits for the extra $$, and a bigger room).

Just something to think about if you were considering concierge.

I figured it will cost me an additional $270 for 7 nights (about $39 more per night). In your opinion, is that worth the extra cost for the extra room it gives you when traveling with 2 small kids (one in a crib)?

Nutsforgolf:

We are arriving August 15th. I just checked with CRO today and I am in Lodge Tower Concierge. I got that rate $357 with tax through either our AP or Disney Club or AAA I am not really sure because I gave CRO all the information and told them to find me the best rate. I assume it is the AP rate.

It was strange to me that on a Friday night in the summer I had a pick of rooms in any category in the hotel. Maybe it won't be that busy.

Have a great trip. We probably won't get a chance to meet since we are arriving around midnight and leaving on the cruise the next morning.

Lyn :D

Lyn, I think you did get a good rate! ;) Hope you have a great stay!!!

As for the lodge tower being worth it, I'd say yes. I love the lagoon views, and so I tend to favor the LV rooms instead. But, they are great to have the extra space. Be aware that the rooms aren't huge, it is just simply a regular room with an added sitting area - some people imagine this huge room instead of what it really is.

As far as Snurk's photos go, only the last three are of the lodge tower (the wallpaper, sofa/pillow, and bedspread). The rest appear to be a garden view room (which is like every other garden or lagoon view room in Conch & Big Pine).

Sorry that the tower room pictures weren't there. I thought they were.

I just uploaded a couple of pictures of the sitting area. You can see the high chair and crib in the pictures.

you are either in Lodge Tower. You cannot have Lodge Tower Concierge, you can have sugar loaf and request a tower room but that is just a request.

And, they usually give those to their repeat guests, or VIP guests.

Cris:

I am curious why would CRO tell me I have Lodge Tower Concierge if there is no such thing? I wrote down exactly what she told me.

The reason I question this is because when I made the reservation yesterday the original CRO reservationist told me I had a Turret Concierge Room in the Lodge with views of either the Marina or the Pool. So I called back today because I could not find a Turret Room on the room rate on the Disney website.

These reservationists are making me crazy:confused:. I transferred my reservation over to DU so hopefully they will be able to find out exactly what kind of room I have booked.

Cris is right- I booked lodge concierge and requested a lodge tower room for my stay. The lodge tower room is simply a room request when you stay at concierge, not a guarantee.

Cali- (probably a stupid question)how do they know if you're a repeat visitor or not?- is all your data in the system and do you flash up as a repeat when you reserve your room? It's a moot point for me, as I've changed my request to connecting rooms, but I was just wondering......also wonder what qualifies you as a VIP?

Is it possible that because lynr is a cruise passenger that she's getting some sort of VIP status and that's why she's being told she has a lodge tower room? Would be nice if that were the case, right lynr?

The resort keeps a file database of your past stays. It is pretty detailed, they can tell you what room you were in and everything. They can easily view it on any of their computers, and I've seen the CM's pull it up when we'd check-in. From this file, they can also know your preferences for rooms from your past stays, too. A CM told me about this last year.

VIP's can be celebrities or people who have stayed there many times (or spent a lot of money there).

Well I have only stayed at the GF two times. The first time I was booked in Main Building Concierge for two weeks and we had alot of problems and switched to the Polynesian after two nights. The second time we stayed in a Lagoonview. However in 2000 we were booked into Lodge Concierge and I got a call from CRO saying they were over booked and they switched me to the resort of my choice which was Polynesian Concierge.

The Polynesian Concierge is my home away from home and I just came back from a stay there in May and will be back in December. Anyway I am wondering if they keep records of the problems I had at the GF and that is why they told me the Lodge Tower Concierge. By the way the only reason I am not at the Polynesian this time is that Concierge is under construction.

I hope everyone has a great stay no matter what room they're in. I love Disney and could probably sleep in a tent and have a good time.

Lyn
