We just returned from a great trip but had major frustration trying to do pin trading w/CM's. We had purchased the locking pin backs for all our pins on a previous trip and accidentally left the allen wrench at home that we needed to remove the pins. I am not kidding...for the first time ever, almost every CM we met up with had exclusive lanyard pins for trade. Here's where the aggravation comes in -- no one had the allen wrenchs and all the stores were out of stock on the locking pin backs so we couldn't even buy a new pack just to get the allen wrench out!!! I finally just told my kids to stop asking the CM's to see their pins because ours were not leaving our lanyards anytime soon. Very disappointing. :(

WOW! That's must have not only been aggravating but dissappointing as well.
My suggestion would be, only put locking pin backs on pins you do not intend to trade. Other wise put rubber backs on "traders".

Hubby and I wear "themed lanyards", which we use the locking pin backs for. They are our "keepers" and we don't want to loose them. But our traders are kept with rubber backs for easy trading,

Again, sorry for your dissappointing frustration.

We just g ot ba ck from 8 days there and couldnt find 1 pl ace that sold the locking pin backs. We went to every park shop, and 4 hotels NOBODY HAD THEM! It was so annoying.

I also do the rubber backs on pins I'll trade and lock the one's I'm keeping.

Do you suppose they are going to stop carrying the locking pin backs? Even with the frustration we experienced I would still choose them over the rubber backs as we've lost too many pins in the past. Maybe we will just keep the pins we want to trade in whatever back/fanny pack we are using as we normally just trade with CM's anyway, so we don't really need to have them displayed on a lanyard.

Just had a fellow DIS'er look for these @ Disneyland and they are sold out as well. I hope they will have them in again the next time we go. Although it was frustrating not being able to trade, it was also very nice to come home without losing a single pin. :goodvibes

We went to the small Tink pin traders bag just because of this.No hassle of the locking backs and no lost pins as well. That small of an allen would be hard to find in a wal-mart type set also.

Little Green Men at MK DL had a bucket full at the register last week.
