Hi, I've heard we should bring sweaters/coats for the evening hours. (We're going the middle of January.) I understand at least the MK has lockers available around the entrance--do the other parks also have these? Where are they? How does it work? I'm sure you rent them, but can you give me an idea of price and how big they are? Can I fit clothes for 3 people in one or will I have to rent more than one? Also, am I going to be standing in line to rent this when I want to be at a ride or show?

I'm still hoping someone can answer this for me. It seemed to get lost when the board was down over Christmas. Any help would be appreciated.

I will try to answer for you although I have not rented a locker in several years (ds is 4.5 and we just use the stroller since his birth for sweatshirts, etc.).

I believe that every park does have lockers. I believe they are large enough for 3 sets of clothes (although I guess that depends how many clothes - I can tell you they are big enough for a decent size backpack - so certainly for 3 sweatshirts and pairs of pants or whatever).

I think the price was around $5 back several years ago (along with a deposit that you got back) - not sure if that's gone up a lot - I doubt it's more than $10.

I really liked using it back when I did - we put sweatshirts and a soft sided cooler in it to use for lunch/snacks.

Just noticed your last question - yes - depending how crowds are the days you are there - it does take some time to rent, store your stuff, and go. I would guess anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes depending when you get there and the line. So it is a little annoying and if you really want to be first in line for something - put your clothes in a backpack and just bring your backpack on the first ride or two and then go rent the locker.

It's been a while since we rented a locker but yes they do have them at the front of each park. They were $5 a day a few years ago - not sure what they cost now. If you search around on the Dis under "theme parks" there may be more info available there about it. You pay the fee and you pick a locker and you have in and out priviledges all day if you want. If you park hop save your receipt because they will give you a locker at the other parks on the same day with receipt (one nice thing about Disney is they only charge once a day for rentals of any kind - including parking, regardless of which park you end up at).

In January, chances are that you will want the warmer wear in the AM as well as later PM. WE have so lucked out on January trips and have never really needed a coat. Been really cool a few mornings and later PM's but not cold enough to want to lug a coat all around. We have rented lockers to store rain gear when the weather cleared after we got to the park. I too think about 5.00 with another 1.00 or 2.00 you got back upon return of the key.We arrive Jan 20 and are taking sweat shirts and hooded pull overs but not a coat unless it is really cold here when we leave home. I always stick in gloves and hats just in case. We layer with t's or turtle necks and sweats and peel as needed. We are also taking for our January trip a cofee maker for warm drinks on return to the room. Our "home" WL has them but we are staying value this trip and they do not have them. Maybe we will see you there!!!!!!

We won't go to Disney again without renting a locker! They were life-savers. We went in May with our family of 4. Each morning we rented a locker -- the large size! You can rent them at all parks. We didn't have to wait very long anywhere, if I remember correctly. Yes, make sure to hang on to your receipt to get one for free at the next park -- if available! I don't think we ever saw that they were all in use, but once or twice the large lockers were all taken, so we had to squish everything into the small. The large size held lots of things -- we emptied our diaper bag of everything valuable, just in case our stroller should get taken. We all brought sweaters at night or put our crocs in them during the day. That way we could change into crocs for water rides or if we needed to get out of our tennis shoes. They also were great for souvenirs. If they were small enough, we just put them in the locker. The big things we had delivered to the hotel.

Definitely get the locker!

We used one at MK the week before Christmas. We had tickets for MVMCP and left sweatshirts in them in case it cooled off enough (the weather was great that week - t-shirts and shorts).

It turned out to be a life saver, because we rode Splash Mountain late in the afternoon and got soaked (and I do mean soaked). We were able to get our sweatshirts out of the locker (just left our shorts on and let them dry).

We could have probably gotten by with t-shirts that night, but wet shirts would have been a little too much. The sweatshirts felt great (warm and dry) and saved us from buying $40 or $50 shirts in the park! :thumbsup2

I think we paid either $5 or $7 for the locker and got $2 back when we returned the key. We also left the camera bag in the locker.
