lockers on Castaway Cay?

I assume there are no lockers on Castaway Cay as none of the information sources mention them, but DW said to ask. By lockers I mean someplace you can put things and lock them up.

The question: Is there any way for a family to spend time in the water together without abandoning all your "stuff" to whatever fate? Unless you leave the ship with nothing but your bathing suits and room key, don't see how. We tend to bring shirts, flops or shoes, sunglasses, sunblock, etc., etc.

I can't speak for every group of people that visit CC, but on our three DCL cruises there, we always pack all our stuff in a tote bag with DCL towels and plop everything on 2 or 3 chairs not far from the water. We have even left our rented rafts and tubes there during lunch and so far nothing has been taken. We always take our valuables (camera, shoes and prescription glasses) with us to lunch and we wear our room keys in a waterproof container around our necks in the water. I've even seen people leave their 35mm Minolta cameras on the chairs and go in the water.

We go to the beach that is ALL the way at the end of the point -- past the family beach, around the corner and up the little hill past the dock bar. Many people think that is the teen beach, but it's not. It is more secluded, FAR LESS people and plenty of hammocks, chairs and umbrellas.

Isn't that the 'crew beach'? I remember on our first cruise in 1998 being told that the crew had their own area past the teen beach & before the adults only beach.

No, this is not on the adult/teen side of the island. This is on the same side as Cookies BBQ and the stores. You just have to keep going because the landscaping narrows a little and the inlet jets out and it looks like there's nothing past that point, but there is another whole beach. We've gone there every time and more and more people are discovering it, but it is still far less crowded then the immediate beaches. (It is near the volleyball court and game room).

There are no lockers on C.C. Our 1st trip there our floats were taken while we were eating lunch (how tacky). So if folks are sorry enough to take your floats that you rented they will help themselves to other items as well. Don't let your guard down and leave anything of value unattended.

I don't consider shirts, towels, sunblock, etc. "of value" but we are trying to figure out what to do with our camera equipment.

We'll be doing the 9:45am jetski ecotour, so obviously cannot take the cameras with us. Since there are no lockers on the island (bummer by the way) one of us (whoever loses the coin toss) will have to trudge back to the ship after the ecotour to grab our camera. Oh well, I want pics on the island with the digital camera, so it looks like that's our only option.

I understand why DCL doesn't have lockers: lost keys, forgotten items, more demand than availablity, etc.

However, I wish that they would have a "coat check" type of booth for people using water equipment or on excursions (like waverunners, banana boats, snorkeling, personal sailboats).

A CM could put items in a cubby and give the person a wristband like they have in the kid's clubs as a claim check. Just a thought . . .

I know the Banana Boat has a box that you put your belongings into while you ride the boat.

As for our other things, I have never had an issue with leaving my camera, etc. inside my beach bag while in the water.

I don't think that the people who have taken floats, tubes, etc. knew they were for rent (this is very possible) I remember our first cruise I saw several floats lying around at the adult beach. Seeing them there for so long I assumed that they were for anyone (did not take them--just a mental note) until I saw the rental area for these upon leaving the beach. I would HOPE that no one took these intentionally trying to get something for nothing. (just call me Pollyanna!)

When we go to the beach, lake, etc. we always get the waterproof cameras. That way we don't have to worry about leaving a good camera unattended and/or having it get wet. Just a thought.

The teen beach is not on the same side of the island as the adult beach. In that area, there is only the adult beach and the crew beach next to it. The teen beach is at the far end of the family beach.
I have heard about people having their floats stolen, but we buy brightly colored cheapie floats and bring them ourselves. No problems as a thief would be very obvious! I did have sun screen stolen once...it was the only thing missing, and I observed to my husband very loudly that it was a shame somone would be so low as to steal a bottle of sun screen, since I would have happily loaned it to them. We went into the water, and when we got back, it had been returned! I guess the "thief" overheard me.

My wife and I both wear glasses, so left those, sunscreen, shoes and digital camera (hidden) on the beach without a problem.
But the ship is RIGHT there so there is no problem just taking them back to your cabin.
We got off the ship as soon as we could, and we were so busy snorkeling, swimming, eating, biking, walking, paddle boating, that when we first thought about going back to the ship, it was time to get back on to leave!!!

Just had to chime in, my DD who was four at the time stole someone's tube at CC.

I left to go to the bathroom and went back to reading my book. Next time I look up, DH and DD's had a tube. I asked everyone around us who did it belong to and no one knew. DH had no idea that they were rented.

She had no idea where it came from.

Somewhere there is a post with our thieving daughter in it. So I'm very sorry.

The teen beach is beyond the Head's Up Bar, but at the far end....the area right past the bar is for everyone.

As Barb said, crew beach is on the other side of the island near the Adult Beach.

Late in the day you will see many abandoned tubes and floats....people are either too tired or don't realize and leave their tubes in the water or on the beach when they head back to the ship.

The first time we went, the area I am talking about -- I thought it was the teen beach. So we didn't go up there. The next time I read about it and tried it and it was great. This past time, as we were approaching it, the water was filled with teens. I thought, oh, no, it is the teen beach. Then all of a sudden the lifeguard was yelling that this is not the teen beach, leave the water. So they all left. Still not sure where the teen beach is, but I've never seen it near that area.

An important note about floats...you are supposed to return the floats and tubes to the rental area when you return to the ship....however, it is very obvious that, as the day goes on and people leave the beach, the do not return the floats themselves...SO there becomes a large amount of floating floats and tubes and no one around
I had heard this but didn't understand just how many there would be (now we did stay until close to the bitter end and so maybe we saw more than most people)
