Locker and Back-Pack ?????

I'm " A Newbie" Sorry But I'm so confused about all the Locker talk . Me - DD, & 2 GS 6 & 8 yrs' --- we have always packed light at DW -- ** cash - cards - wipes 's , Bandades, Asprin. Sunglasses .1 cell phone ... **If we mess up a T-shirt ( we are all food Dribblers. LOL ) We buy a T- shirt at the Park .. Am I missing Packing a Big Back Pack ???? The Boy's are not Stroller Bound .. Will be Walking ... Any Hints are very Welcome ....

Unlike at Disney, you can not carry a bag with you into attractions at US & IOA, they have lockers available for you to use while you are on a ride. The lockers are small and some are a pain to get to (like FJ). It's also a bit of a pain cause you need to remember your locker number (I've forgotten many times); plus it works on a finger scan system.

The lockers are not at every ride though. Just the biggies.

But on those rides you cannot carry anything on them.

If an item is not allowed on a ride because it is unsafe to have it on the ride, why would you try to skirt the system and hide the item? As a thrill ride enthusiast, this really, really bothers me... I don't want MY safety jeopardized because someone wanted to find a way around using the lockers.

What about bumbags?? I know for a fact I couldn't manage lockers. I have neurological and cognitive problems as well as being partially sighted - I can think of something but it will be forgotten 2 mins later and if I have a "blanking" period I will be even worse! SERIOUSLY WORRIED NOW!!!!!

A lanyard, sure. A purse? No.

Some will make sure to wear cargo pants/shorts with pockets that zip or button closed (securely) to put things like cellphones, wallets, etc in. But you really want to make sure they are secure. Don't put change in a *buttoned* or snapped pocket on Rip Ride Rockit unless you want those quarters to smack the people behind you in the face when the coaster has you laying on your back before launch! 1. you'd lose your money and 2. you'd hurt someone! and 3. probably cause a ride stop.

There are specific guidelines for waist packs. Small and with 3-prong buckles is what I recall right now. Someone else should show up and give the exact sort of size that works. Editing...maybe that's just for Forbidden Journey but not for the coasters, etc? Hope someone comes in and clarifies.



Lockers are for rides like Men in Black, Hulk, Forbidden Journey, Dragon Challenge, Dr Doom (I think), Mummy, and any big coasters in there I've forgotten. (Hippogriff and Woody Woodpecker coasters aren't included) oh, Rip Ride Rockit, definitely.

bumbags work very well. Just make sure that they won't obstruct the restraints. So that means nothing that fits a water bottle and tons of stuff. Mine will fit a small camera and a few little other things.

A three prong clasp is required. That is just for security. They don't want anything flying off and hurting somebody or stopping the ride.

Any other kind of bag (other than a lanyard) is not allowed.

I once tried to walk onto FJ wearing a Vera Bradley cross body mini hipster. I was not trying to skirt the system. I just honestly forgot I had it on. It was cold and I was wearing it under a jacket. A CM saw the bottom edge hanging out from underneath the jacket and told me I had to put it in the lockers. That Vera Bradley minihipster had a top that zipped and then a front flap that velcroed over it. It was worn crossbody and was underneath a jacket that was zipped up. No way was anything in that bag going anywhere. Another time I was wearing a Vera Bradely zip ID on a lanyard. The CM told me that if it didn't fit in my pocket then it would have to go in a locker. It easily fit in my pocket completely. To me it would have been more secure around my neck as I felt it could have slipped out of my pocket, but they wanted it in a pocket so that's where I put it. I agree it's wrong for people to try to skirt the system, however if it's your first time to Universal I can also see where someone would think something like a crossbody minihipster that zips clossed that is under a zipped jacket would be OK. I now wear only cargo shorts to Universal and never carry any kind of bag in, but can see where someone would think a tiny cross body bag might be allowed, especially if it's secured under a zipped jacket.

Funny thing is I have seen the people beside of me holding sunglasses and small cameras during the ride and nothing is ever mentioned about those small loose items. Oh well their park, their rules and I agree we should follow them.

Cool. Would only be carrying small amount of stuff: tickets, travel money card, camera, room key. Would much rather have bumbag than bag anyway. It's a 4 prong one as most UK ones are these days
