Not sure whether to post this here or in the Grand Floridian forum since that's where we're staying. Since my question is specifically about travel times for our dining ressies, I'll try here. You'll move me if I'm wrong. ;)

When I booked our CRT breakfast today (got it- YAY!) the CM told me that the travel time could be up to 20 minutes. This really threw me because I'm staying at the GF and the "big sell" there is "location, location, location!" Aren't we like- next door to MK? I thought Epcot would be our 20 minute commute. If MK is 20 then what will Epcot be? :scared1:
So, was the CM wrong? Anyone know what the commute is for GFl to MK? Our ressies are for 8:25 am on a Wednesday- before park opening.

You have to allow 20 minutes. What if you just miss the monorail and have to wait for the next one? Also you have to account for time to get through the security check point, the gate and then walk up to the Castle. 20 seems very reasonable for me.

Seems reasonable to me too...especially if the monorail has to stop "for traffic" which it frequently does (that is why we think the monorail is oft times overrerated).

Actually, I think 20 minutes is cutting it close. You need time to:

Walk from your room to the monorail station at GF
Wait for a monorail, could be up to 10 minutes
Travel from GF to MK, just a few minutes but could be traffic holds
Walk from MK monorail station to bag check area
Wait in line for bag check
Wait in line for entrance turnstiles
Walk from park entrance to the castle.

Personally, I wouldn't leave my room at GF any later than 60 minutes before my ADR time.

WDW is very, very large. It's going to take time to get around. 20 minutes is nothing at WDW, it can take that long just to get through the entrance turnstile at a theme park, or to walk from one part of a park to another.

I was actually just referring to the time the monorail takes in-transit. I knew I'd have to add time for walking to and from it and getting into the park. ;)

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but I believe the monorail runs counter clockwise around the loop which means if you get on at the GF you have to stop at the Poly, TTC and Contemporary before you get to MK.

The monorail actually goes directly from GF to MK, no stops:thumbsup2
