Does some kind of map exist of the YC/BC pools? Where is the lazy river part located? Closer to YC or BC?

Thanks for your help :)

The Lazy River is part of SAB, which is right in between both resorts.

Each resort also has a quiet pool in a courtyard towards teh end of the resort. All pools are on the "water" side of the resorts.

The "lazy river" is the ultra-deep (over 6 feet deep) end of the pool. It's nearer to the YC and the children's beach. Make sure you really know how to swim or bring a pool noodle to hang onto.

Thanks again Anne :)

I have young children (3 and 6). I'm thinking about BWI vs YC/BC for our next vacation. So I guess what I'm looking for is where the best pool location for them would be. SAB seems popular but from what I've read it's deep in some places and the lazy river not suited for young kids. What are the quiet pools like at YC/BC like? Is there an area of SAB that would be more suited to younger kids? DS gets bored with kiddie pools but not a strong swimmer yet. I'm hoping for a place we could all hang out but I suppose each of us could take one child to different areas of the pool.

BWI's themed pool appears to be easier as far as watching both kids and being able to stay together (although I've read some people think the clown is scary!).

Choosing where to stay is always the toughest part for me . . .

Thanks robinb -
I'm completely unfamiliar with the layout of SAB. Is the children's beach the "kiddie" area/pool? Seems strange they'd put the lazy river close to where smaller kids would be - but maybe it's not really that close? I'm sure there's lifeguards and all - maybe I'm just making a big deal out of something not that big!

I wish I'd gone over and done a little scouting on my last trip.

The top right is the area for small children. The circular area to the left of that with an island in the middle is the lazy river.

Laura - thank you! That's perfect! The lazy river looks kinda short and the children's area looks large to me. What a great picture and your site is wonderful too!

Now I get it :)

I do!

I have always been afraid of clowns... yikes, but I am going over to check out that clown to see if it's as scary in real life as it is in photos. I keep thinking what it must look like at night!

We just returned from a stay at BCV and as DVC members have pool hopping privlidges. We pool hopped over to BWV's one day, and it was my DD's 5 favorite day!!! The kiddie pool at BCV's is only 2 feet deep, and with a LOT of sand. It does make walking around a little tough. The big slide at SAB doesn't allow any type of swimming aids (ie swimmies, vests) so unless your confident your child can swim away from the bottom by themselves (you're not allowed to catch them or assist in anyway) they can't go on the slide. There is a small (and I mean small) kiddie slide located at the bottom of the ship where you go up to the big slide. My DD liked this slide, but the clown pool was the big hit. The slide there is completely open, and swimming aids are allowed. It is a pretty long slide and not too fast, as to not scare little kids. You can also wait at the bottom of the slide here and assist a child who might need a little assistance to get out of the way. The slide isn't nearly as scary as it looks in the pictures, actually it's quite comical in person. DD thought it was a riot that she was sliding down the clowns tounge!!!! She must have gone down the clown slide at least 20 times in the 2 hours we were there!!! We couldn't get her off!! It was such a hit, she asked to stay at BWV next summer and not BCV. After my experience, I've come to the conclusion that SAB is GREAT for really little kids or much older kids with great swimming ability. If you're kids are in between, it's really not a great place for them. There is too much that they are unable to do, and they get frustrated. At Luna Park, my DD could ride the slide and use all the pool and not get frustrated.

You can also borrow a type-II PFD Lifevest at any WDW resort for your youngest and s/he will be able to keep up with your older one. There are lifeguards everywhere at SAB, but not at the quiet pools. I do not think your son will get bored with the SAB pool ... it is huge and even with only one child my DH and I split up a lot :).
