Locals, Frequent Visitors or Helpful Dis-ers

We left our Harbor Hotel at 8:15 on a weekday morning, and were in the Legoland parking lot just after 9:30. LL opened at 10am that day. We never really hit any traffic. Sorry....can't comment on the other places.

Knott's is 10-15 minutes away. Its really not that far and you could even avoid the freeway.

Universal is more than a hour because of traffic. The freeways are horrendous on weekdays and even on weekends if you don't hit it at the right time. I'd avoid going to Universal on the weekdays because of that.

The OC beaches are probably 30 minutes away or less and it depends on traffic and if you take the main streets or the freeway. Santa Monica is a bit further from Disneyland than the other OC beaches. We drove down that way yesterday and it was extremely busy!!! I've never seen it so busy along PCH (Hwy 1). We were stuck for a hour on there and even though we weren't trying to go to the beach, the parking lots were full.

Thanks guys! After I posted I realized that lot's of my questions were answered in the stickys (esp. the posts by HydroGuy) but I so appreciated hearing the personal experiences with the drives. California traffic seems rather unpredictable!:cool1:

You definitely do not need to take the freeway to get from Disneyland to Knott's. I teach right next to Knott's and drive streets whenever I go to DL after school. Just head West on Katella or any other East-West street and in a few miles you will hit Beach Blvd. Then go North a few miles. Knotts is right there.
