Is there anyone in the Orlando area that can tell me what the LOCAL weather people are predicting for Thursday and beyond (especially Thursday). I checked the Orlando Sentinel, but sometimes a verbal reoprt has more info.

I find that usually the local forecasts are more accurate than weather.com , accuweather, etc.

We are scheduled to arrive early Thursday am and are still struggling about whether to reschedule. If Thursday is going to be a windy washout, unless the weekend looks good, we will probably rebook our flights in October or November. It looks like we may have a problem getting back on Monday the 20th as well, since we are in the New York area and it looks like Ivan may be around New York area on Monday. New York airports usually have major delays when there is heavy rain.

There are lots of uncertainties we have to deal with. I realize I could hit similar weather issues in Oct or Nov, but if I know the weather is going to be bad and the airline is letting me reschedule, I'd rather take my cahnces on a reschedule.

The Orlando local weather forecasts are probably about as reliable as ours are up here where I live. Which is to say, not reliable at all.

Hope for your planning purposes they can tell you what you need to know.

During the recent weather they were very accurate here. It is that time of the year where you can expect afternoon showers. It can be raining here and not raining on the other side of our plan.

But what you need to know is WILL it rain on your side.

I do hope your locals are better than mine --would be hard not to be!! They predicted floods with Gaston--we got absolutely not one drop. Then floods with Frances--we got "misted on"-not enought to prevent my lawn mowing next day.
Pretty sad--.

I think everyone that lives in FL knows how the rain is unpredictable. If I see a chance of showers I plan accordingly.

I think the forecasters here are much more accurate than when I lived in PA.

I guess they are--but that isn't saying a whole lot!!
Florida rain is unpredictable is true enough--
I imagine that's why the local forecast in Orlando (almost everytime we're at WDW) is
"Partly Cloudy (or Sunny), 30% chance of showers or thunderstorms".
So if it does rain, they say 'See-we said there was a chance of rain"
And if it dosen't rain, they say "See--we said there was only a 30% chance of rain"

Right both times!! Amazing how they do it--
