I am just wondering what others here and anyone in your areas have said about the DS pins that are "suppose" (?) to be sold starting the 21st. (As I know a few stores began selling them already.)
Traders here are few and far between. (Am I it? ) Even collectors are few.
I have spoken to some and everyone says the same (me nutsy over pins too), although standing in line for YoD was somewhat *entertaining*, no one is willing do it.
Seems we all say the same, if we can buy 'em, fine. If not, oh well.
I think Disney just created a mess with the YoD by undershipping, not shipping, rules, broken rules, altered rules, etc.
And then having to get up VERY early to STAND in a line and sometimes still walk away without all you wanted. (Here for YoD, you needed to be in anywhere from the second in line to #6. Past that, most likely you didn't get what you wanted.)
Then on the heels (too close, IMHO) came MoM. And with less fanfare and following, and a little less confusion.

So what are your thoughts and what are you hearing on the upcoming series?

Been collecting pins for a long time, but plan to pass on this set because of the mess last year. I won't be a slave to Saturday morning pin buying and the stress that comes with it. I will get what I like if I can. And another reason, would be I would want the entire set, but since they incorporated the Musical Ones into this set, that is a turn off for me. I do not collect musical or light up pins because they are too big and bulky, so to collect the entire set, would force me to get these too which would not fit into the new binder very well. I do, however, have my eye on the Christmas tree set in the catalog! I plan on buying them and trading the ones I don't want. I'm sure I'll find happy homes for the ones I don't keep.

With the exception of the Christmas tree set, I could not have said it better ladies! I am not that interested in the next set ... plus some of what I have seen online doesn't look dramatically different than pins I already have ... sleeping on Saturday mornings is a plus in our house ... the socializing was nice :), but the frustrations Barb mentioned (undershipping, not shipping, rules, broken rules, altered rules, etc.) were not worth collecting the next set.

I missed out on the first pin of the last set because I couldn't get there in time. I will pass on this one as well. I think it would be different (and will be) if I was at WDW on vacation. I think I would get up early for a new release if I liked what they look like. I'm not really into getting the complete set. I get pins only if I like the look. Although, I have to admit I'm trying to get the movie poster pin sets. But only due to the fact that I like the way they look.

So I guess my vote is no on getting the new series. Maybe a few but not being there first in line and all that jazz!

Just an FYI most of these (san't say all because I have only seen a few) are NOT musical. The Musical in the title refers to the series subject being music from Disney films.

I will only collect the ones that fit in my themes, which so far is only the Peter Pan one.

I'm doing the same thing Dom, just collecting a theme..Beauty and the Beast..but you could have guessed that, right? Otherwise, no, I will NOT be in early Saturday morning lines...been there, done that, not going back!

LOL at Dom & Leslie! We've been hanging out together on this so long that we know ahead of time which pins "our" frineds will want to buy :)! Leslie, I guess we will all miss your weekly post to Peggie about your Saturday morning triumphs (& sometimes disappointments).

The pins are of a musical theme, and do not play music. There will be a pin bag as well. Street date is September 21.

I agree with everyone else -- I don't think I'll be getting the entire set because I'm not getting up at the crack of dawn to stand in a long line. Towards the end of last year's set, people started getting really nasty, and who needs that?

No way I will be getting up at 5 am and getting in line at 6am. Think I will pass on it. The sharks can have this one.

Geez,
Disney makes pins just for you and even spreads them out across the country in the DS and all you guys have to do is to whine about "getting up early" and "not getting the pins that you want", boo hoo hoo!

And what kind of people try to buy EVERY pin that they put out in a "series"?

If we did that at the parks, say buy EVERY pin that comes out this year at DL (series 2002), aye caramba!

Now stop whining, set your alarm clocks and get thee to your local DS and get your pins, oh and while you are there, could you pick some up for me ;) as I shall be dreaming!.

Gotcha!

Lord of the Had You Going!

Darn it Sir Chas! I was going to ask you to get me the Beauty and the Beast pins from TDS. OK, so I will set my alarm and go once!

Sweet dreams! (or maybe I should say happy nightmares or wishing you bad dreams):D

Well we will probably get some of the pins, we will miss the first week since we will be WDW for the pin event. We have not gotten any full set yet and only get the ones we like.
Now we got to the point where we enjoyed the early Sat morning pin grabs. Sometimes we went out for breakfast with our new friends and still keep in touch with them. I guess we will just see how the new series pans out.
