Has anyone had friends/relatives stop by for a visit when you're staying at a
DVC resort? We'll be staying at SSR in a few weeks and we were planning to have my cousin, who lives in the area, stop by one evening and then all go out for dinner leaving from SSR. What is policy at the security gate for this?
Do we notify security in advance that we're expecting someone or will they just call us from gate to verify there is someone to see us? I'm assuming that security won't have a problem allowing him in the resort and up to our rooms with verification that we're expecting him.

At Old Key West, we let the front gate know we were expecting someone and what unit we were in.

It shouldn't be a problem. I haven't had off-site visitors at OKW since they actually started using the guard shack( it used to be unmanned). I would ask the guard when you arrive who you should notify (if anyone).

:earsgirl: We always have someone coming to visit us when we stay at BWV all they have to do is tell them at the gate that they are visiting a guest staying at the villas give the guard the name of the guest staying there and they will let you in with no problems. Have a great holiday :earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo

Ditto mikmin... My Mom and Dad live in Orlando and they have no problem getting through the BWV gate with our name and room number.

We have had visitors at SSR. They were required to give them the name of the guest, the guard checked to make sure we were guests, and then they copied their license plate down and gave them a visitors pass for their dash.

I am sure with all things Disney this could vary depending on who is on duty at the time.

My DSIL lives about an hour from WDW so she usually drives over to see us when we are there. I just call security and tell them she will be coming, they take down her name. It's never been a problem.

When we were at OKW last Dec, our friends visited us. They were in the car behind us and we let the guard at the gate know. He gave our friends a pass to put on the dash of their van and all was well.

My son and his family live just ten minutes from Disney. When we are down there, I always just get an extra parking pass for their car and they have no problem getting in. They have always gotten in, too, by just telling them who they are visiting. It has never been a problem.
