Local telephone calls

OK, I admit that I am not always "up" on the details of my DVC membership so please don't flame me for not knowing this one!

Last year, the DVC resorts instituted a local phone call charge but DVC members were exempt. We just returned and were charged for some local calls.

Did I miss something?

There has been a charge for phone calls for some time now. You were fortunate indeed that you weren't charged last year.

Charges are .75 for guests at all WDW resorts and .35 for DVC members at all DVC resorts. I believe it includes 1-800 calls also.

It is easy to have missed this one. They normally charge people making calls from WDW hotel proterties 75 cents per call, but DVC members making calls from DVC hotel properties are charged only 35 cents per call. That was a change made about 2 years ago and before that we were not charged for calls. If you pay for WDW hotels, other than DVC, using points they will charge you the 75 cents.

Non-DVC resorts charge 75 cents for 800# calls, but I was not charged last year at DVC resorts as a member.

I was only charged for one phone call last Dec. and I made at least 10...

We were at BWV this past January (2001). I made about 10 calls during our trip with my pre-paid calling card. You have to dial a 1-800 number to use the card and I was never charged.

Maybe 1-800 numbers are free and other calls are 35 cents. Anyone know for sure?

We have been charged for 1-800 calls sometimes, but not always. In Jan, we weren't charged for any calls- even though I made many to log onto the DIS. I have never been charged for calls I didn't make though.

experience in early Feb. on points for 6 nights, we were not charged for any local calls or 1-800 connections during our stay.

And during HH stay in late October we were charged the 35 cents per local call and for 1-800 connections so there you go.
