I guess I'm getting really old. The radio station my DD listens to (and is geared toward the teen to early 20s set), is having a contest called "2006: The 'Breast' Year Ever."

One lucky winner will receive free breast implants with a local plastic surgery center, a makeover, and then a modeling portfolio.

This just sickens me for some reason.

doesn't phase me really...i believe a local radio show did that a year or 2 ago...it's actually kinda 'old'...

some women will do anything for a free knocker* job.

(*i used that word so it wouldn't get censored out...so please don't think i was being crude)

Ehhh...we had stations here give away "Extreme Makeovers" last year. :confused3 Not really anything that bothers me. If a woman wants ehnanced breasts, then hey have at it.

I guess it just *bugs* me because this is a radio station whose target audience is middle school/high schoolers. The only reason I listen to it is because my DD (14) LOVES the station. There are a few other stations where I think the target audience is more appropriate. But I guess I have a general problem with making a 15 year old girl yearn for a breast implant.

I'll just be really curious to see who the winner is.

Howard Stern has been doing that for a while now. While I love(d) the show when it was on the radio, I don't think I'd be calling in for those anytime soon!

Well it's not like a 15-year old could show up and get the implants. Parental permission is needed for surgery. I am sure there is some type of age requirements. And you might be surprised at the demographics of the radio station. I prefer "younger" music and I am 32.

The morning show that I listen to is based in Tampa, but for some reason broadcasts in St. Louis and I think Jacksonville too. They do something called ****apallooza and give away several of these (something like 10 or 12). The only thing that bothers me about it is that you have to get implants--you have to go bigger. I don't want or need bigger, but I could use a nice lift. ;)

I'd like to know what you mean by this. I don't think there's any station whose main audience is teenagers. I listen to several different stations and some of them play the new, hip music.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I *know* that a 15 year old can't get implants and that they won't be winning the prize. And I do know that demographics on this station are high schoolers--it said so in the paper. And, at 42, I also like younger music--I have my very own copies of the Black-Eyed Peas CD and Gwen Stefani, so I'm not quite ready for the nursing home yet, but I guess I just find it distasteful that they are pitching it to this particular audience. I think it would have been a nice gesture if the Classic Rock stations had done it (demographics 35-50)--we could really compete well for the implants!! :teeth: And I would totally expect this out of Howard Stern and for his audience.

But what if a guy wins??? :earseek:

It is very discrinatory, isn't it?

Their last contest was the "Big Phat Fall Purses" contest. I was left thinking: "what about the guys?" Again, the target audience is high schoolers and predominantly girls. I think the guys are listening to the alt rock station or classic rock these days.

Do you have a website for them? I don't need new b**bs but I have some friends that own the radio stations in town and they would get a HUGE kick out of this! You can PM me if you prefer.

Same radio station that I listen to. They do it every year. And this year it was a bakers dozen. They have to send it an entry to try and win. And I do believe you had to be 18 to enter.

Most of the people that won really didn't have anything to begin with. And went to an average size.

One year they did give away any plastic surgery item that you needed. Lifts, reductions or Lipo.

It really did change alot of peoples lives.

They also did one I think last year for Dental Work. And let me tell you it was truly amazing what some people were walking with in their mouth. :earseek: And the after pictures were amazing.

So alot of good can come out of these type of give aways.

Since I'm getting this done later this year, I would LOVE to have it done for free!

two of our local stations do this...
one calls it the "12 ****s of christmas"
and I forget the other slogan....
