Local here & what I'm carrying in my bag into the parks... What's in your bag? Update 7/27

We are not local and we've only travelled in the January months. Everyone has their own string bag so mom or dad doesn't have to carry everything. One Britta squeeze bottle to fill and share then pack it back empty. One pack of gum, handy wipes, sanitizer, Carmex, a bit of cash, and now extra masks. DH always wears cargo's so he is bag free. Phones and portable chargers and that's it.

I'm local and never take a bag in any of the parks.

My tip for you: Ditch the readers - there's an app for that! ;-)

The problem is I won't be able to find the app on my phone without the readers... LOL... 👓😎

I had a pair of folded able ones and they broke, and I haven't been able to find another pair...

Love your list you seem so prepared, my family use to have a backpack with everything down to lunch....to
A drawstring bag that has
A clipon sunscreen bottle.
We buy a waterbottle or a coke at the park and refill the bottles all day with free water. They go in the bag

I will be adding a ziplocks because I usually get a few from splash mountain and keep them all week not sure if they will still be there.
We really travel light now days so much easier but I do like having the bag in case i want to carry leftover snacks.

OP here,

Thanks.... the planner in me is showing.... LOL

With it just being DH and I in the parks, we can get by with just my crossbody.. and his cargo shorts pockets... if the kids and grandkids are along... no way just the crossbody, I will have that Mickey backpack out... locked, loaded and ready to go... LOL

So
Many
Gummies

5 year old needs snacks in lines. Mommy needs to retire one day with $ in the bank. We’re not buying that $7.99 sugar tower. We brought our own.
We started giving the kids $20 cash... man they cling to it... can I have dippin dots for $8? If you use your own money.... No thank you that's that much money. Lol the first time they thought they would just get more and pout how they should not have spent there money on the first thing they saw.
I use to have everyone with a drawstring but somehow I ended up holding them all. Now just the one.. sometimes in the afternoon I bring snacks. We always go back to the room mid day...probably not this time due to shortened hours.

following along!
I travel over Labor Day and although i have been to WDW in June and August..something about September just makes me nervous for the weather + all the additional policies and procedures.

As of now I have made mental notes to bring/order:
--Travel antibacterial wipes. I have a few 'wet ones' and need to order more prior to my trip. Anyone have a brand they prefer? I don't necessarily care about the way they are packaged because i plan on bringing ziploc bags so if it is one of those packages where you can't reseal it, i won't have to fear for them drying out!
--I really liked the idea of the face cleansing wipes! my DBF gets really sweaty in normal conditions so pairing that with the heat and wearing a mask i think that is a great addition to our backpacks. It'll make us feel rejuvenated for sure. I personally don't like the Neutrogena wipes (used the makeup removers before) and they irritate my sensitive skin. But i found Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleansing wipes on Amazon for $10. Comes with two packs of 25 which should be more than enough!
--Chapstick is always a necessity
--Along with Sunscreen. I have a travel size sunscreen where the brand name is escaping me but it is specifically for your face and works amazing (and smells great!)
--Baby powder for my BF...anyone prefer something else?
--Portable charger and charging cords. BF has a BRICK of a portable charger. I hate how heavy it is but it can charge more than 8 devices (something crazy like that) from being dead to full power. So it is much better than the 5 mini portable ones that i usually bring and have to charge every night.
--As a gift from my parents they bought us the rechargeable fans that are lightweight and hang around your neck. Not the lanyard ones..they look like headphones kind of. I actually really like them after using it while sitting outside at my nephews' baseball game! They don't last too long if you are using the highest setting of fan which is the only downside but good thing we have the brick of a portable charger! (they also light up which is a fun added bonus for when it gets dark!!) I personally don't like the fans that spray water but to each...
--Ziploc Bags
--Many, many masks.
--Ponchos or small umbrella. Verdict isn't in yet. In previous years ponchos were always the way to go, i'm usually the only one that cares about wearing one so it isn't too bad to transport when only needing one.
--Some snacks that we smuggle in 😋
--I have a hydroflask that keeps water at a wonderful temperature. I don't like lugging around a water bottle but this is amazing at keeping water ice cold so i will make the sacrifice.

With that being said, do you think a cooling towel is necessary to add to the mix?
I was going to order some with my next Amazon order but there are a million different brands, reviews, etc.

Any other items that may be escaping me?

OP here...

I got lucky and got some antibacterial wipes at Walgreens... so I plan on bring a tub of them with us, then just filling up the ziploc in room for my park bag as I need them... I wipe down the room, all the touch points and everything when returning to the room.

I haven't tried the Cetaphil wipes, you'll have to let me know how they work out...

We have lightweight rain jackets that we use, Columbia, and they fold up easily, as well a couple of shake and a couple of paper towel all dry and your go to go..... ponchos are so hot... As far as a umbrella for me its to much... plus you are hitting other people, and if you are wearing a back pack it always gets wet, and if you are getting a side wind driving rain, it really is worthless... that's just my opinion...

I have 2 frog tog, mini chilly's... and we like them, they will go in a ziploc...

We have a Star Wars mister fan... so we are planning on bring it... DH thought that we might not need it, since the parks aren't super crowded, after talking about it we did decide to take it with us.

Does your hydro flask leak? We are looking for something like this, for my grandson for his lunch, he is a picky eater, so he will be talking his lunch to school he is only in kindergarten... and we need something that will keep his drink cold, and not leak...

We have several hydroflasks and they're really great but we also love the Walmart Ozark trail copy cat Yeti. They're $10 and do just as good as a job as the Hydroflasks. My ice cubes last most of the day outdoors. We bring it to the pool in 100+ heat index and it's great. They make a small and larger size.

We'll be back in a few weeks and we will have all our hot weather gear ready to go, can't wait.

I can't speak on the Walmart Ozark you are talking about but i definitely love my hydroflask and it doesn't leak. And i like the strap that the handle has because it can be looped through things if need be. But my hydroflask was a gift and honestly is a bit expensive for a water bottle.

so other brands are probably equivalent and less expensive!

my boyfriend is in his car all day for his job, and he bought a HUGE water bottle off of amazon since he can't drink unless he stops and buys something. It was pretty inexpensive, plastic and surprisingly well insulated. It's lightweight cause it is plastic but it is just really gigantic. He already said he will be bringing it to Disney (because it also has a handy velcro strap that he hooks onto his backpack when we go hiking) but it is just really too much in my opinion. lol

I haven't seen the soap sheets, I am wondering if they would have something like this at Bass Pro... I am going to have to check it out...
Do the water bottle leak when full?
So we bought a different version of those water bags on Amazon that had a clip to hook onto a backpack, etc. The little hole for the clip tore on one of our boys within 2 hours. However he is 6 and lord knows how much he was probably playing with it. However they have been running around outside and refilling them all day and ds9's clip is fine. They are much lighter than a bottle but they only hold 8 oz of liquid. I wouldn't use them for anything other than water because they don't really 'dry out'. It seems like a small amount of water just stays in. However they were about $1 per bottle/bag.

Well, I finally ventured into the parks today. I persuaded DH that he would be safe and could ride a banshee without dying so we got to AK around 3:30 and stayed about 90 minutes. I think we could have stayed longer if it hadn't been raining. Normally I don't carry a bag at all, just ID case/wallet, phone, tissues.
Here's what was in my drawstring bag: a pack of tissues, 2 umbrellas, ziplock bag of 4 pairs of latex gloves, ziplock bag of 4 extra paper masks, empty ziplock bags marked with names in case we removed our masks for some reason, my id case, cell phone, hand sanitizer spray, screen wipes. I had to go to bag check because of the umbrellas, but they said next time to walk through the detector holding the umbrella straight in front of me and it should be fine.

I wear a baseball cap and loop the strings through the back of the adjustable part of the cap.
Similar:. I made my own "ear saver" using about a 2" piece of elastic (like the kind you'd see into a waistband) and sewed a button to each end. Then, because I always have a pony tail, I stick the elastic through the hair rubber band of pony tail and it stays there. The mask loops each go over one of the buttons. I got this idea online.

Someone mentioned cooling face wipes and it got my wheels turning. Masks aside, I definitely feel the heat more (and sweat more) from my face since entering menopause.

I'm wondering if I could dilute my Peppermint Oil and pour over regular (non-cooling) face wipes? .... and of course NOT use the wipes too near my eyes!

ETA- there are recipes online for cooling peppermint oil spray. I guess this could just be poured over the wipes.
