lobster?

My DH and I have both never tried lobster and are really wanting the first experience to make us want to eat again and not turn away from it. He was talking about going to red lobster but I figured somewhere at disney would be better? Tell me if I am wrong and which restraurant you recommend for us to eat at to order.

We used to get the twin tails at Capt. Jacks with the dining plan. They were OK for the amount they seemed to serve.

Captain Jacks does not even have Lobster any more. I would still with Red Lobster.

To be perfectly honest with you, if you have never had lobster, I would try it at locally at Red Lobster of Bonefish first. At WDW, Narcoossee's (on DDP but costs 2 TS credits) and Fulton's (NOT on DDP) both have decent lobster but it could end up being a costly meal if it turns out that you don't like lobster.

I agree. I notice you're from Ohio. If you're near the Cleveland area soon you HAVE to try Pickle Bill's in Grand River (it's actually on a river 1/2 mile off the coast of Lake Erie, 20 miles east of downtown Cleveland) It's known for its incredible seafood at decent prices. Definitely the place for lobster, I've had it numerous times! It's also a very popular place with the locals so you know it's good. My family makes it a point to go there every year (although I can only have salad). It is the absolute craziest, neatest restaurant you will ever dine in. It's hard to describe, but the nautical decorations/theme is amazing.

As a New Englander let me suggest that if you get lobster at Red Lobster make sure it's a Maine Lobster. Maine lobster have the 2 claws and are IMHO sweeter that the spiney losters.

If you want to try lobster at WDW the best I have had are as follows;

Naragannsetts Lobster at Fultons

The steamed Maine Lobster at Narcoossee's

The Cantonese Lobster at Todd English's Blue Zoo

I don't think RL is that bad (if you get the whole lobster) and in many areas it's the only option for lobster. It is very limited in my area because most seafood places around here focus on battered and deep fried fish and shrimp. But if there are other options in the OP's area, then I would try those.

I agree if you've never had lobster before, I wouldn't try it at Disney. Narcoossees is expensive for it and if you don't like it, you'll be out $60 each.
I would go to a local seafood restaurant that serves it, if you don't have one then go to a red lobster. I don't really like Red Lobster but then again I don't like chains in general but as long as you get a broiled lobster, it shouldn't be too bad, and much cheaper to just try and see if you like it. I would do that with anything though, why spend a lot of money on something you might not like. Personally lobster to me is just okay, I love fish, but lobster, ehh, I can take or leave it, some people do go crazy over it though.

We enjoy narcoossee's but like all Disney restaurants, the quality is not exactly miles above the generic counterparts so try it wherever just order a whole live lobster, it will not be good (and isn't at narcoossee's) anywhere if you get just a tail (for example in the surf and turf) because it will almost always be frozen and gross, I've never eaten at red lobster but I think it's on par with like an outback so it would probably be fine(not life changing but neither is narc.) as long as they are steaming live lobsters and you don't get any weird seasoning narcoossees is very good though I don't think you would regret it, and you could split it and get a steak or something in case you don't like it..

Do you have a local Hibachi restaurant? Our local Hibachi restaurants have pretty good lobster and it is reasonably priced at most of them.

I doubt any place in Disney would serve it like this, but some restaurants will serve the lobster with it's "insides" - that green "grizzle" that's there when you cut it open. There's a casino buffet not far from me that serves it like that and I won't eat it. It's rare to see that though. RL is a safe bet.

BTW - you'll be mad at yourself when you try lobster. It's so delicious but so expensive, and you're going to want it again and again

I have lived in New England pretty much my entire life and practically grew up on lobster, so I'd say I know a thing or two. I have to agree with havoc315.

Please do not go to Red Lobster for your first lobster experience. True New Englanders don't even eat there.

I have had the lobster at Narcoossee and we really enjoyed it. But, there are different kinds of lobster too and when we were there last time (2007), we really enjoyed the Whole Maine Lobster. They did a good job with it. They also have a lobster tail on the Surf & Turf option, but that is not a Maine lobster tail. Lobster from different waters will taste different. Personally, Maine lobster is the best.

I completely agree with the above. Living in New England makes it easy to get good quality seafood that's fresh. I understand not everyone is so fortunate. We have reservations at Cape May next month and I'm feeling reservations about going. I'm afraid we're going to be disappointed, but not all the reservations we have are about what *I* want.

I've had lobster at Narcoossee's on a few occasions and its been wonderful. I eat lobster several times a year and would never step foot in RL. I also spend time on the east coast (eating lobster) so I know what fresh lobster tastes like. Only the whole Maine lobster though, never the tails. I also don't recall it being $60 at Narcoossee's but I could be wrong with that. Too busy eating lobster to notice I guess.
