Hi All- We are going to be in WDW in 10 more days! Yay!!!! Anyway, we got the MYW Dining plan, and DS 14 has one request- Lobster. All the restaurants look so good, that while I have reservations for our entire stay- I want to be sure that his first lobster experience is magical! Without saying where I have reservations- does anyone have suggestions for the best place to have lobster? There are only a few that I have seen:

Olivia's Cafe
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Coral Reef
Narcoosees

I have looked over the menus at allears.net and still can't make a decision. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TIA :

Le Cellier has recently been having a chef's special steak and lobster entree for dinner, however that is a very tough restaurant to get into and I'm not positive they will offer that special the night you go.

Another place that has lobster on the menu in Epcot is Teppanyaki. You can get the steak and lobster combo on the dining plan and it only costs 1TS credit, unlike at Coral Reef or Narcoossee's.

A third place is in DTD, Cap'N Jack's. They do not take ADRs, it's a first come first serve basis. You can only get the lobster as an add-on with your steak dinner, or you can also order the twin lobster entree. I have heard mixed reviews for this restaurant, so it will be risky.

Personally I would choose the Teppanyaki restaurant, cause it's mildly entertaining for kids, you're gauranteed to get the steak and lobster meal, and reviews have been consistantly good for this restaurant. :flower:

I would go with Narcoossee's. They always have lobster, and they tend to be large two pound). Also, looking at the menus Narcoossee's is the only one with whole lobsters, the other three only have lobster tails.

OOOHHH Yeah.......gotta have those lobster claws and rue...mmmmmm

The lobster at Fulton's at DTD is quite good and the ambience is excellent.

Fulton's has excellent lobster! I get mine broiled (I like the texture of the meat better that way). The restaurant is really nice and you have neat views of DTD. I always get the Alaskan King Crab Claws and the Lobster Tail..yum! Can't wait! We are going there on Sunday! HTH

Maybe a strange question for you lobster eaters, but I wanted to know if you order lobster do you get the whole animal on your plate? And do you have to "crack it" yourself to be able to eat it?
No way that my vegetarian DHB will sit next to me when I am doing that :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have to agree with Fultons.

WE have eaten there a few times and the lobster is always very nice.

Not a strange question at all. It depends. Some places have whole lobster and some have just the tail or both. If you get the WHOLE lobster..yes..you usually do all the crackin'. If you get the TAIL..it's usually cracked open and sitting on top of the shell. The tail has most of the meat, but a whole lobster has meat in the claws and I guess other places too. Personally, I get the tail. I don't like having the whole lobster there and all the "other stuff." The tail is usually already prepared and has the most meat in it. DIfferernt strokes for different folks.

When lobster tails are served, they are almost guaranteed to be from warm water lobster and frozen. Whole lobsters are cold water and hopefully fresh, possibly live. Although now in Calgary, I'm originally from the east coast of Canada and everybody there and probably also from Maine, Mass. etc. would tell you that warm water lobster is not really lobster - not as sweet, juicy, no claws, etc.... Ask if they will crack it in the kitchen!

I didn't know that! I have had a whole lobster once, but didn't notice the difference. I'll have to try one again. Can they keep the eyes in the kitchen, too? That's why I don't get the whole lobster.

This year when we went to Disney (July 1-10) we ate at Fultons and I would highly recommend eating there. My food was great! My boyfriend got 2 1/4 lb lobsters with potatoes, and I got the Crab Claws with potatoes which the meat fell right out of them. He said his lobster was great and he wants to go back to Florida just for Fultons. I had the Disney Dining Card but since Fultons is not included on that they still gave me a 10% discount on our bill which is the annual passholder rate!!

One more vote for Fultons!

I live in FL and actually dive for spiney lobsters. While fresh is always better, frozen warm water lobster tails keep and cook extremely well, unlike their cold water counterparts. I prefer a properly cooked spiney lobster tail over Maine, although I love both. Although I've never asked, I know a lot of restaurants can shell a lobster upon request for those too squeemish.

Fultons in NOT on the Dining Plan, therefore I would go to Narcoosee and get the whole lobster. It is priced at $54, so it makes it a good deal if you are on the dining plan and have the extra TS credit.

I always get the claws (sometimes the claws and the lobster). They are excellent!! It's worth every penny!

I don't do lobster (vegetarian here) but that was freakin' hilarious. :rotfl:

I had Maine lobster a few weeks ago for my birthday - it had been flown in that day! :goodvibes I remember the tail, and the claws - can't remember the body was there and I just did not mess with it.... Would they just serve tail & claws??
