LL question with one non-rider?

I have one member of my party who does NOT want to ride certain rides (specifically Radiator Springs Racers). Will he be allowed in line with us if we purchase a LL pass? We generally do rider swap with him on rides he doesn't want to ride and that has never been an issue (for him), but we've not been there with LL so this is logistically new to me.

TIA!

I do not believe that anyone without an LL reservation can pass any scan point. That said, you should be able to use both LL AND rider swap. I know you could do it with the old FP system anyway.

Can anyone confirm that they've done rider swap and LL in combination? It's tempting to say there's no need for rider swap as the person that stays back with the baby, can just use their own LL.

Of course, with three people, rider swap would help to make sure that the person that stays back (or the initial rider) doesn't have to ride alone.

I am not sure, but with FP all actual riders needed to have an FP, so I assume that is the same.

We were successful doing LL and Rider Swap @ Indiana, Space and Incredicoaster in Dec 2021, meaning for our family of 5 we all had LL and I stayed back with my youngest and my DH and 2 older boys rode, then we swapped and I went back with the 2 older ones and they got to ride twice. The cast member at Incredicoaster did ask to see if my youngest had a LL before scanning us back in.

My boys are sad the next time we go back their little brother is now likely tall and brave enough that they don’t get to ride back to back. ;)

I would push back if they tell you the 3rd person could just use their LL after the others go. One of the main things about rider swap is that the 3rd person wouldn’t have to ride alone if it’s used. You’re paying enough for Genie+ and paid lightning lanes, the least they could do is allow Rider Swap so members of the family can ride together. If this is the case for us, I will likely go to guest services and ask them to refund one of our Genie+ because it will not get used. We’ve already gone to DLR once with our baby and I know the 3rd rider in our party will end up not riding at all if we can’t use rider swap.

That’s good to hear. We’re going with our baby next week and not being able to use the Rider Swap will make one of Genie+ pretty much useless.

If your little is under 3 then its a non-issue as they don’t have a park ticket. Never had an issue with rider swap in past 2 visits to DL. The sticky part is (as in our case) you have a 5-year old that will ride some things but not everything. Once the CM didn’t scan my LL or his, but it is kinda moot because you cant re-ride so there wasn’t anything else I could re-book for “us” - so we rode the carousel and had a grand time.

And I realize i didnt answer OP question.

The only time i have seen a non rider be able to enter is guardians, and that was an older child that opted at the last moment to stay out. So the non-rider at RSR would stay out with an adult and then the adult could re-ride with 2 others. The only crinkle may be that it is a $LL, so i assume you would not be purchasing it for the non rider, but honestly i can’t imagine a CM at Racers taking issue. Especially as people use the single rider line all the time they’d likelet prefer to just send your return party through the LL.

This is likely going to be what we end up doing (which is fine by me). Between not having used LL and DAS, I'm kind of in the dark. In the past I've just waited with my son on the side while everyone else rides then swapped out. I guess now we'll just wait outside.

Thanks!!

The nice thing is, instead of waiting for them to ride, you can go do something else.I much prefer it to the child swap at other parks where you are waiting and the non rider feels totally left out. Have a great trip!

I'd take him on another ride in the land while you wait. The LL for RSR can be kinda long. Or just grab some treats from the cones and sit down and enjoy the break.
