LL Bean Quad Pack Backpack?

I posted yesterday on the budget board but with no response, so I thought I would try the family board...
I'm on the hunt for a new backpack for DS10, almost 11. I am planning on buying a nicer quality one in hopes of it lasting more than 1 year. I am looking for something with 2 big main pockets and water bottle pouch on the side. DS10 wants red and comfy. We are looking for something lightweight. I'm surprised how many backpacks weigh 2-3 lbs empty! He gets a lot of homework plus needs room for snowpants, shoes, etc in the winter.

Does anyone have any experience with this backpack? I want it big enough, but not too big...

I do not have experience with this particular style of backpack, but I can say that you cannot go wrong with LLBean. It will last for years...it will become a family heirloom and your grandchildren will carry it to school Their warranty and customer service are also awesome. The website has the dimensions of everything...maybe compare the measurements to something that you have at home?

I would also check Lands End. I hove bought my boys each a Lands End backpack going into grade 1. Oldest DS is now in 7th grade and still has the same pack. It goes to and from school with him everyday, has been on vacation, road trips, overnights, summer camps, and anywhere else he might need to carry something to. I laugh at the girls that I work with cause they go out and buy a brand new $20 or $30 back pack every year, cause the one from the year before is destroyed and I just bought 1 for $40 or $45 and it has lasted over 6 years.

I have the catalog in front of me, and they have a featherlight Backpack listed. might be worth checking out.
