Trip Report ~ Day 2 ~ Friday 2nd June 2006

Woke up at 8.30 a bit later than we wanted! Got up showered and went down to breakfast to find loads of people queuing for food. Sean decided to get the children’s food and sit them down, while I got the rest. After walking around the restaurant three times not being able to find a table, ended up sitting in the children’s area on kid’s seats. We didn’t have spoons as there weren’t any left so none of us could eat our cereal or fruit. So I went and got rolls and croissants, eventually we got spoons and finished our breakfast. Not a good start!

Got the shuttle bus and went to the studios.

No queuing to get in! It seemed quiet, saw some characters and got autographs much easier than at the Disney Park. Saw Donald, Daisy, Mrs Incredible, Stitch and Minnie. Lovely to just walk around without loads of people and queues. Went on the flying carpets children loved this so had to go on again!

Animagique was a really lovely show. Went in the televition studios some bits of it better than others! The art of Disney animation was also okay but had trouble hearing the English version through the headphones as the French was too loud. Armageddon was okay but before you get into the main room with all the effects you have to listen to loads of waffle which was boring! especially for the kids. Disappointed to find tram tours closed.
Watched the parade which was lovely and you didn’t have to wait for ages just to get a good view, after seeing the main Disney parade in the rain it was lovely to enjoy it in the sun, we thought it was very good.
After the parade we had done everything we could apart from the car show, but that was another couple of hours till the next one so we decided to go over to Disney Park.
Got straight in and headed for the ice cream shop on Main Street, which were yummy!
Decided to head for discoveryland as there was lots we hadn’t done there. Queued for ages to go on orbitron which was okay but not worth the wait!!!!

Then onto Autopia which I thought was good! Kids really enjoyed it as well.

Then we went on buzz which was fantastic!! Even for adults, really good ride and didn’t queue for more than 20 mins! Had a really good afternoon and were surprised now quickly we got on the rides.
Then finished off our day at the park by seeing "Honey I shrunk the audience" which was really good, my daughter especially enjoyed it my son however refused to wear the glasses!
By about 6.00 we had managed to do everything we wanted in discoveryland so decided to head to Disney village for an early meal at the Rainforest café. Before we left we booked a meal at Walts for the Saturday night.
Went to the rainforest café where we were told it was a 20 minute wait which was fine we walked and looked at the lake and the balloon.
Went back for our meal we were seated near the gorillas, what a great restaurant! (didn't get a good photo of the gorillas so here's one of the elephants)

Ordered our food, Sean had mixed grill, I had trio of salads in tortilla baskets,(picture is just half of it!) kids had fish and burger meals.

Enjoyed our meal although I thought my meal was just too big! Finished it off with coffees and I had mine with a mini cream brule and small cake which was really nice.
Bill came to 99 euros (about £70.00) which included a cocktail and a couple of beers
Decided to finish off the evening with a bit of souvenir shopping Sam bought a buzz lightyear, I bought a fridge magnet, a Disney scrap book and a mug. Bethany couldn’t decide what she wanted so we said she could get something another day!
Then headed back to the hotel, when we got there we decided to mention the situation at breakfast.
We spoke to the manager and she was very apologetic and said they had tried everything to stagger people going for breakfast but everyone wants to eat at the same time to get to the parks. We asked why no checks were made when entering the restaurant to find out those who were entitled to breakfast, what surprised us was she told us that everyone has breakfast, now I know you can book rooms without breakfast but they obviously don’t bother to check.
She did say no one else had complained but we said that’s often the case (lots of people were complaining in the restaurant) but no one gets round to actually saying anything, she took onboard what we had said and also said she would refund the cost of our breakfast for that day off our bill.
We back to our room pleased that we had said something and after unpacking buzz so Sam could have a play!
Went to bed after another great day!!!!

As far as I know it is impossible to book hotel stays without breakfast.
I have tried with my AP and with the shareholders card, and both times I was told no.

I presumed as there is the option to book on the Holiday Inn's website stays with breakfast the ones that didn't state it were room only?
I know when you get there there are signs saying how much breakfast costs.
So really not sure?

Queued for ages to go on orbitron which was okay but not worth the wait!!!!
