Ok if I do go down for the program I don't think I'd be able to bring my car down with me, and I was wondering what is life like there without a car?

I know there is the bus system that will take you to your job. Is there a bus that will take you to a grocery store or a mall? Or how is it people are able to get all their grocery shopping done? Thanks!

The aim of the Florida-Site College & International Program system bus routes is to get Participants to and from their work locations on a scheduled route.

However, in recognition of the fact that many Participants arrive without cars, there are some scheduled services to other locations in order that they may get Sundries and Groceries.

Currently, these locations are as follows:
  • Publix Super Market; Vineland Avenue/International Drive, Lake Buena Vista
  • Wal-Mart; State Road 535, Osceola County
  • Orlando Premium Outlets; Vineland Avenue, Lake Buena Vista
  • Florida Mall; Orange Blossom Trail/Sand Lake Road, Orlando

There is also occassional bus service to other locations.

More information on specific routes and times will be communicated to Participants upon arrival.

Are these regularly scheduled buses then?

Yeah they post a regular schedule so there are specific days and times that the walmart and publix buses run. I think the walmart bus was something like mondays, wednesdays, fridays and saturdays and publix was every other day or something like that  (don't quote me on that because i could be wrong and it's probably changed since then)
I did not have a car on my first cp and it wasn't too bad- you might have to plan to leave almost an hour before your shift starts because the buses each have several different stops and my workplace (CSR) just happened to be the last one on the route so I always had to plan an extra hour... :faint: it wasn't too bad though... it depends on your job.

My best advice for you is make friends with the people that brought cars :lmao:

The busses to walmart/publix run every single day but the hours vary by which day of the week it is. The bus to the Mall/Outlets only run on certain days of the week. Its usual=ly one day of the week.

Public transit can also take you all over Orlando, and there's 2 stops close to Vista Way.

And don't dismiss cabs as well, they're great for areas close-by, but not serviced by the CP buses.

Basically the mall runs once a week...the day changes monthly...and the walmart runs later on some nights and earlier on other days.

Though you can walk to the outlets from the commons...it's not a far walk from chatham or Patterson...if your in vista I recommend taking the bus to the commons
