Living with the land?

This is my favorite ride in Epcot... maybe in all of WDW. I know, I'm weird. We'll be at Epcot this coming Wednesday. I hope it reopens. :(

One of my favorites, too. Apparently it gets a holiday wrap. I missed that on my one holiday trip.

One of my favorite rides (I also like CoP in MK, go figure). The holiday wrap is well worth it - we were lucky to go in 2019 and 2020 over the winter holidays. I'll at that it's a festive experience after dark too.

I too love this ride and I'm sad to hear it is offline. You know, one of my favorite WDW memories was when I rode LwTL with DW. It was a time when WDW still had CMs give the guided tour from the front of the boat. And we had a super sweet, senior citizen lady who did a terrific job. When I got off the boat I told my DW, fairly loudly and jokingly, that the CM reminded me of my Grandma and I was going to call my Grandma right away. Some other guest behind me heard me, thinking I was serious, and said to her significant other "I'm going to call my Grandma too!"

We always enjoyed this ride but a couple of things made it much better in the past. First, live CMs on the boat for narration and to answer questions. Second, loved the original theme music and wish they would add it back here and in other areas of the park. They also need to do add more fish in the aqua room and do something in the area between the greenhouse and the exit. It is do depressing in that bland, dark tunnel.

Another one who loves this ride. We will ride it a few times each trip. I liked it better when you listened to the land instead of living with it but I'll take it no matter how. We have done the Behind the Seeds Tour a couple of times. Always educational and fun to go behind the scenes.

I usually head over there first thing and ride it a few times before the line gets long.

That would be interesting, on an attraction that moves at 5mph (or would that be 4 1/2 knots?!), concerns someone could fall into 12" of water? I'd hope they put seat belts on the Kilimanjaro Safari first!

It is a puzzle, though, as to why it's closed without an announced reason.

Adding them would probably be do to the person(s) that hopped off within the last two months to touch stuff and about fell in trying to get back on.

You're right. I had forgotten reading about people doing that. Some folks just have no respect or sense of consequences.

Aaaand this is why we can't have nice things! Maybe they're trebling the number of CCTV cams along the way.

I really hate to think that they're going to put up barriers of some kind to stop people getting off. It's such a peaceful 'journey' and that would so spoil the ambiance.

It's one of my favs at Epcot, too.

I would have trouble finding it now since it was several days ago, but when I originally saw this reported on twitter that it was closed, someone replied that they rode the ride a couple of days before it closed and attached a video they filmed of the roof leaking a lot right in the path of the boats, so I believe they are repairing the roof, but I wouldn't think it would take this long, so perhaps they are inspecting the entire roof for repairs needed.

Surely anything involving seatbelts and/or more cameras would have to be planned, right? They have to purchase those parts and schedule people to perform the work. It wouldn’t be spontaneous and would surely show up on a schedule somewhere with and ETA for reopening. In my mind, anyway, that’s how it would work 😂. Seems more like an unexpected repair was needed - the roof leaking mentioned would be a good example.

It’s one of my favorite rides too, I think as a throwback from it being my most favorite as a child; the live CM’s being in the boats were the best part. I miss that part terribly, but it’s still a favorite. And my kids love it, too.

From what I heard is that they were installing new alarms/fire alarms throughout the ride and they can't reopen until the Fire Marshall signs off on everything.

I remember years ago, the ride having a live cm narrator on board. It’s so sad to read how jerky people can be. I hope they’re banned. We need as a collective group, that loves Disney, protect our park! Don't just sit there and let jerks ruin everything! I bet not one person on that boat said or did anything to report the person. This is why we are slowly loosing the magic.
