Does any one know if these are back? There was one shown last night on the Samantha Brown special, which I believe was taped recently. When we were last there December 2006 the statues were not and we were disappointed. When one showed up last night on the special my husband and I both yelled, "They're back!!" :lmao: Are they?

haven't seen the show, but haven't seen them either. i'd think it'd be much larger news and discussed if it were true. might have been stock footage which shouldn't have been included.

My Husband and I saw one back in 2004 and I was so excited to see them when we went back last year. (sigh) I didn't see her and we even asked about it. Oh, how I wish they would bring the living statues back!!

We noticed the clip from Samantha's show last night, too. Of course, we all got excited at first. Then, we decided it must have been an old clip. Darn......

I'm so glad you posted this! I, too, saw the Samantha Brown show and thought - "when did they bring back the statues?" We haven't seen them at EPCOT in YEARS! I sure hope that I missed some announcement, somewhere and that they are indeed back!

2004... saw them
2006... nope
2007... nope

I think they are gone :( Too bad- so much fun!

The one we saw in 2004 was so funny! She was outside Italy and would be all still until your back was turned and then she'd knock your hat off or do a different pose. She had the whole crowd laughing! I don't know why they would take such a hit away from Epcot. If it was because of the heat, they could just bring them out during the morning or something, right?!

I was so curious as to what that was on the show last night! Were these only in World Showcase? Is Devine still around AK?

Does Devine usually stick to one area in AK?

you'll find her on the trail between Africa and Asia, usually moreso towards the Africa side.

We always enjoyed the living statues in World Showcase. Really miss them. Have lots of pictures of them interacting with people who were posing for pictures, etc. It's a shame that something so simple has been eliminated. We've seen Devine, but honestly I think Disney could "afford" to have the statues back at Epcot. They were much more entertaining than a talking trashcan -- but that's just my opinion. :-)

Well, darn!!
They were so fun to watch, and honestly, Davine is creepy to me.
Maybe they will return before our December 2008 trip.

OMG This was the same lady that touched our DS's head as he was walking by. I was laughing as I knew they were real but he did not. I looked at him laughing and he told me to stop. I insisted that I did not do it, that the statue did it and he argued with me the rest of the afternoon. Until we went back later in the early evening and he saw for himself. It was very funny. Would love to see them again.

I may have seen the original living statue. In 1961 on Main Street in DL there was a statue of Dr. Jekyll. One woman was posing with it and put her arms around its neck. It hugged back, then chased the frightened woamn up and down Main Street. I've forgotten a lot of what we did that day, but that is burned in my memory.

Thanks for the correction!

I didn't see a calendar of upcoming appearances on their website. I guess they just do private shows now.

I, too wish that they would bring back these wonderful actors! They were so good! I would love for my DGDs to see these "statues"!!! Why is it that they seem to take away the good attractions? Are you listening, Disney powers that be????:confused3
